Over my head too now - also Surrey. Hoping my 4yo stays asleep as he's scared of storms Confused

Bombaypotatoes · 16/09/2016 01:08

Very loud full storm directly above us right now (Surrey/Hampshire border)and very heavy rain. Been going on since 10 and getting gradually louder. Hopefully it's reached it's peak as dog and dc are not happy campers. Plus side is the bridge near us that I need to pass to get to/from work is likely to flood meaning I will be forced to stay at home tomorrow and catch up on daytime tv

Mummylin · 16/09/2016 01:55

Massive storm here in Bournemouth too. We lost power for just. Few minutes. Very humid.

megletthesecond · 16/09/2016 01:57

We've had one overhead in North Hampshire for 20 minutes now.

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 16/09/2016 02:29

south hants - thunder and lightning almost constantly since 9pm

never seen or heard so much

v v v humid

Eggsbutnobacon · 16/09/2016 03:37

Have heard the thunder approaching in the distance for the last half hour.
Is overhead now here in the north east and torrential rain has just started.

SendARavenToRiverRun · 16/09/2016 05:35

South Yorks. Lots of thunder and lightning here.
Love it but also a little very scary! Ohh here comes the rain!

0hCrepe · 16/09/2016 05:41

Also in s Yorks here. Massive thunderclap a hit a go that sounded like something exploding and woke us all up! Never heard anything like it. Just grumbling noises since then and no rain yet.

SageYourResoluteOracle · 16/09/2016 05:42

Also in Surrey here... it just hasn't stopped raining! The thunder and lightening seems to have gone on for hours and I think I've seen almost every hour on the clock. Today will be a struggle!

SendARavenToRiverRun · 16/09/2016 05:50

I was wrong crepe no rain. Lots of trees around i guess it was the wind blowing them. Lots of loud thunder though. Bet we heard the same clap!
Still raining in Surrey? Oh gosh let's hope you don't have more floods.

CharminglyGawky · 16/09/2016 06:01

Crepe I think that one woke me up too! About 5.10am and loud enough that I went from sound asleep to wide awake and out of bed in about half a second.

Now have the dog sleeping on my leg, she isn't allowed on the bed but I'll let her off for this.

We're in sheffield.

aginghippy · 16/09/2016 06:27

I was woken up just after 4 by a frightened ddog. I'm in north London and we must have been in the centre of things then with bright lightening flashes and very loud thunder.

It's still raining now, but the lightening and thunder are infrequent and further away.

0hCrepe · 16/09/2016 06:29

Yea me too! My dog is deaf/not bothered luckily. Haven't been able to get back to sleep, or dd.

GloriaSmud · 16/09/2016 06:43

Nothing here (Leicester) Woken up by torrential rain just before 6am and that's been it.

LivinOnAChair · 16/09/2016 06:47

Serious thunder storm here!!! We're in Northumberland and its been going on since 4am, poor DS almost jumped out of his cot and he's been in with us ever since Sadthere's flooding to at least our estate and probably further, aaaargh!

niceupthedance · 16/09/2016 06:50

I woke up with a headache at 320 then the storm started! Torrential rain now too, in east London. Happy school run everyone!

StealthPolarBear · 16/09/2016 06:53

Brilliant storm in durham at about 3am. It seemed to go on a while too. One flash of lightning made all the power go out along the street and then straight back on again. Our main road looked like a river.
3 hours later and it all seems back to normal!

Middleoftheroad · 16/09/2016 06:59

We had teriffic storms in Birmingham Tues with lots of lightning. Nothing so far today but sky is grey.

juneybean · 16/09/2016 07:05

Haha stealth our power went out too and we are miles away. It was all faint rumblings until 5am when there was an almighty elongated clap.

gallicgirl · 16/09/2016 07:07

It seems to be a slow moving storm. A friend in Guildford reported its presence yesterday evening and lightening maps show it hasn't moved much past London. Probably hit us in Essex for the school run!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 16/09/2016 07:07

Still raining (Hants/Surrey border). FB reporting flooding and power cuts locally Sad.

Maladicta · 16/09/2016 07:08

Massive ones through the night here - South Bucks. Dread to think what the roads will be like...

StealthPolarBear · 16/09/2016 07:21

June ours only went out for that split second then straight back on, which I found odder than if it had just gone out. Must have been a huge surge!
Hope you enjoyed it too

StealthPolarBear · 16/09/2016 07:21

I was having a wee at the time :o

BalthazarImpresario · 16/09/2016 07:43

Very tired here in north Hampshire. I bloody love thunderstorms and am still in awe of them but not at 1am when I have work in the morning (second busiest period of year thanks to fruit based phones)
