From the met office for sunday afternoon into Monday as a deep area of low pressure develops to the north of the UK. Potential for gusts of up to 70mph in parts of Scotland.

Autumn seems to be arriving early.

little bump as its the first potential proper blow of the season!

I heard about this on the forecast after the lunchtime news and thought 'that sounds like the first Autumn storm of the year!'
'Tis going to be a bit of a shock after the nice summer.

ouryve · 12/09/2013 20:21

Oh joy.

Bye bye electricity, yet again, no doubt.

Tapirbackrider · 12/09/2013 22:48

Oh FGS!

The two days of the week that I'm not working, and the weather is going to be shite? Just typical.

I give it 6 weeks before it's snowed.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/09/2013 07:48

It does look pretty grim in the 3 main models. They vary in position and depth of the low, but not hugely I'm afraid. There's weather coming!

O dear, DP is off to the Great North Run and driving back to the far north after... Do you think I'll get him back in one piece OYBBK?

BlackAffronted · 14/09/2013 08:12

Will it affect the east or west coast worst?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/09/2013 21:03

Grrr, hate it when it loses my post when I'm checking up different aspects.

Sunday the wind field seems quite evenly distributed to me east west wise. It's not a very bad storm by any means. Just gales really, but there's a fair bit of rain expected down the north west. Pretty blowy even towards the south. Could be some thunderstorms in northern England too. Monday evening, perhaps a squeeze in the isobars in the west?

It seems so hard to believe because its warm and sunny in Glasgow today - a beautiful late summer day.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/09/2013 21:10

How funny, dull and cold here!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 14/09/2013 23:35

NW borders here - still very calm... but snow showers predicted over the highest tops tonight!

GloriaSmud · 15/09/2013 08:34

All quiet here atm (Leicester) We've woken up to a sunny but breezy morning ~ the washing's out but not sure how long for as cloud's beginning to move in. Been a cold night though ~ down to 4.3C at 4.13am.

dementedma · 15/09/2013 08:37

Heavy rain and wind already here in central Scotland. Wish I'd remembered to bring the washing in last night!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 15/09/2013 08:45

We are.on holiday in West scotland (Argyll) today and driving home tomorrow..everywhere around us has landslide warning signs.
Awesome timing.

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 15/09/2013 08:47

Weathers minging in Hamilton! Yesterday was lovely, glad I got my washing done.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/09/2013 08:52

Quiet down in the south too. Going to do my outdoor stuff this morning as its going to be a wet old afternoon.
Some sharpest gusts in western Scotland first thing this am. I think these will calm down somewhat through today before picking up again tomorrow afternoon/evening. Generally pretty windy across Britain though.

Oops demented! Still, at least it will be well rinsed (as long as your pegs are strong)

Fanjo - have a safe journey.

Lifeofpo, is it feeling like an early start to autumn up there, or is it about right?
