Is it true?

I dont know why Im particularly bothered, but I would just like to know.

GFS still is showing a big cool down from around the 19th on with very wintery charts in the following days.

tak1ngchances · 08/01/2013 08:58

Metoffice seem to be sitting on the fence as usual

LillethTheCat · 08/01/2013 13:16

Tak1ng, I don't blame them to be honest, it could rather easily all go pear shaped!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/01/2013 13:59

GFS is maintaining remarkable consistency for so far out time wise. Still showing winter starting the weekend of the 19th with buckets of snow about the place.

Although it would be really inconvenient, I'd be gutted if it didn't come off!

Sparklingbrook · 08/01/2013 14:00

Noooooooooo!! No buckets of snow. None at all. It is all mild and lovely at the moment, and we are going to go straight into summer.

GloriaSnow · 08/01/2013 14:39

They're getting a bit excited about the possible snowmageddon on met-monkey The GFS chart along with the temperatures over Europe~way are a bit of a Shock for the 24th. 'Ts all a long way off atm though!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/01/2013 14:55

The charts are jaw dropping Gloria Grin must have a wander over to met monkey, the guys on UKWW are always so calm and laid back about stuff!

Sparkling, if it really was going to go straight into summer I'd be quite happy! It's this damp grey gloom that is getting to me. I need either heat or some excitement!

Must get some wellies for dd, she's grown out of hers and I might need mine!

Sparklingbrook · 08/01/2013 15:02

I had to get DS1 a new pair of wellies. He went on the village Christmas walk, he and his friend thought it would be fun to cross the very flooded wet ploughed field diagonally. He lost his shoe completely and I had to dash over with wellies. Shock We have the other shoe as a souvenir. Grin

mankyscotslass · 08/01/2013 15:58

Oh snow - that would be great. Grin

ClaimedByMe · 08/01/2013 16:01

We are being told on fb by our local amatur weather gura that temps here are due to drop and we will be freezing by the weekend...........no mention of the white stuff yet!

ClaimedByMe · 08/01/2013 16:04

excuse typos I had to rush as dd and ds were trying to kill each other

tak1ngchances · 08/01/2013 17:14

kitten and gloria I am gripping my knickers with excitement. The twitterati are out in force exclaiming over the models. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/01/2013 17:25

errmmm, I ought to have paid more attention to GFS for this weekend - so busy looking for the 'big dump' but Saturday could see some snow in the midlands and central england. Its looking very marginal, but possible.....

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/01/2013 17:26

have to laugh at the express Grin

ClaimedByMe · 08/01/2013 17:28

Are they telling little white fibs?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/01/2013 17:31

Don't normally link to other forums but if you want to get all excited (and then probably get let down in a big way!) excited discussion

tak1ngchances · 08/01/2013 17:31

The Express and the Mail are shocking when it comes to weather reporting. Mind you, they probably apply the same degree of hyperbole to all their articles!

Quenelle · 08/01/2013 17:33

Oooh good! My new rain/snowboots arrived today Smile

Sparklingbrook · 08/01/2013 17:37

Mmm. Marginal snow may be ok. I don't want to need the snow shovel. Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/01/2013 17:46

Waiting for the next model outputs.... exciting!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/01/2013 17:50

do you reckon I should start a new thread with snow risks and what not?? or are we doing fine with traffic on this one?

Curtsey · 08/01/2013 17:58

Kitten - may I be incredibly cheeky and ask you if you have a way of seeing if Ireland might be similarly affected? :)

LynetteScavo · 08/01/2013 18:06

So I need to buy a snow shovel before the 19th? Is that right?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/01/2013 18:10

The south of Ireland might catch it on Saturday :) It stays a bit warmer than England next week but still pretty cold Then afterwards it does look like it it could join in the fun after the following weekend along with everyone else!
