for lots of areas over the next few days. Includes an amber one right over the Midlands tomorrow (Oh joy, more heavy rain for me!)

Aw, crap. We drove over the Trent tonight, and it is very, very high. The washlands are all under water and the water is moving very fast. I don't like to think how even more rain will affect it.

lubeybooby · 09/07/2012 22:01

ok this is just getting silly now. arghhhhhh

redwhiteandblueeyedsusan · 10/07/2012 00:25

oh whoopidy doo

well on the bright side, flooding will likely only be coming down from above not up, being on the topish of a hill like. nicely in line for the lightning hope the garage does not flood or dd's classroom, again.

starts panicking about storm drains... I should be alright in a second floor flat right?

GloriaSmud · 10/07/2012 06:35

and so it starts again

Thanks for starting this Gloria, I was shattered last night!
stupid weather. Really really dont need this today - feel for those of you in the amber warning area again.

Thurs - Fri the warning areas are massive!

MakeHayAndSneeze · 10/07/2012 07:19

Oh good, more rain. The garden was looking parched. (Am in the Midlands...)

MakeHayAndSneeze · 10/07/2012 07:20

And we had at least half an hour of sunshine yesterday. DD nearly melted!

ripsishere · 10/07/2012 07:22

Ridiculous. Our garden is like a bog. Someone tell me it will get better for the six weeks holidays. I can't afford to take DD to indoor attractions when the garden is there and free.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 10/07/2012 07:24

I've just looked to as far as GFS goes - 26th July. There isnt really any strong sign of the weather pattern changing, but perhaps hints (though the models have done that a few times for thelast couple of days of each run)

MakeHayAndSneeze · 10/07/2012 08:05

My 2 week forecast says better for next week. U-huh, it changes daily!

Even the toadstools growing in out lawn are rotting from over-watering....

MakeHayAndSneeze · 10/07/2012 08:06

Our, not out. My brain is waterlogged.

IShallWearMidnight · 10/07/2012 08:34

DD is on a DofE expedition Thursday and Friday - maybe she should switch to canoeing rather than walking Sad.

GloriaSmud · 10/07/2012 11:58

Our amber warning (still got a yellow one) has gone for today and so have the warnings for Thursday and Friday. Could this mean an improvement in the forecast?

Watery sunshine interspersed with showers here today.
I vould do with those dinghie's, we've got a canal 200 metres away.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 10/07/2012 13:47

I think it's more of a refining of the forecast Gloria though tomorrow could be a bit reasonable for some. I guess in general it's worth trying to notice the sunnier bits in between the rain!

lubeybooby · 10/07/2012 14:02

No rain yet here in Hinckley, apart from very light drizzle this morning very early

Are we still in for it?

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 10/07/2012 14:56

today, lubey I think you have have escaped the worst of it - it seems to be have been a little north of your area (and further up too)

lubeybooby · 10/07/2012 16:04

thanks oybbk

we had a very heavy downpour a short while ago but it's all gorn now

noting the 'today' there...

Labradorlover · 10/07/2012 21:12

Amber warning for Edinburgh area tomorrow. Net weather doesn't think it'll be so bad. The ground is saturated so more floods if Met Office is right.

Week 2 of the Scottish holiday............
Although, reports via Facebook, the NW Highlands are having lots of sunshine. And it seems we've all got their usual rain. Having lived in that area, this amount of pish weather would be about right.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 10/07/2012 21:40

Silly weather lubey!

Lablover, that sounds about right. At least somewhere is happy!

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 11/07/2012 14:58

updated warnings wIth southern areas becoming more of a focus for a few days. An amber warning out for southern counties with the possibility of thunderstorms ( already happening? Am stuck in my bedroom on the iPad as we have builders in, so it's a bit harder for me to check out whats going on)

IShallWearMidnight · 11/07/2012 16:49

lots of thunder and very heavy rain on the Surrey/Kent border this afternoon - got caught in it once, but fortunately the latest one was over by the time I had to do school pick up.

OYBBK - any updates on what it may be like for DD on DofE tomorrow and Friday - Guildford way?

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 11/07/2012 20:13

Ishall it looks like a good part of tomorrow will be reasonable with rain moving in by mid to late afternoon. Rain overnight will probably be heavy but the winds should stay pretty light. Friday morning the rain should clear away but some sharp showers ( thundery??) in the afternoon with some strong gusts of wind.

IShallWearMidnight · 11/07/2012 22:07

Thanks kitten, after tonight's efforts that sounds almost idyllic!
