environment agency
Please pay attention if you are in the relevant areas. It does look potentially very nasty, with perhaps 70-100mm of rain falling in places.

Oh poo, that is us.The school were meant to be camping on one of our fields overnight, but have postponed it until September. We were meant to be at a gymkhana on Saturday, which will be unlikely to go ahead.

I've had enough of this rotten weather.Sad

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 05/07/2012 20:37

It is awful :( must be extra hard work looking after horses too.

Yes,especially as our are both grey! Luckily the new one coming in a week or two is blue roan,so she won't show the dirt as much.

VivaLeBeaver · 05/07/2012 21:11

Our village has been issued with a flood warning! Eeek!

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 05/07/2012 21:55

Just had to look up blue roan, very pretty :)

Viva, is it likely to affect your property? I hope not.

I'm about 200yds from a canal. There's a big flood defence wall thingy so I hope not.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 05/07/2012 22:07

If it did look worrying you can make emergency sand bags out of carrier bags and soil (had to do that in 2007), but hopefully you'll be ok!

BBC News about flooding (DH was supposed to be going to the racing at Warwick today and wasn't surprised when it was called off.) It's awful here and hasn't stopped all day.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 06/07/2012 16:28

How's it going for all in the warni g areas?

South Derbyshire here, and it hasn't stopped raining. The town centre has flooded across the pedestrian precinct and some roads, too. We're on heavy clay, so it can't sink in to the ground at this volume. I walked the dog this morning, and the reservoir was lapping across the footpath.

Bunbaker · 06/07/2012 16:46

I live in South Yorkshire and had to rescue DD from school. I floated through some massive lakes puddles to get there and the school car park was ankle deep in water. We have no trains and some of our buses are having to take alternative routes. Several local events and a massive music festival have been cancelled. It is 2007 all over again Sad

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 06/07/2012 17:33

Bunbaker, you are absolutely right, it does feel like 2007. It sounds awful up there.
Down here there's been steady rain for most of the day but only had 4.8mm

mankyscotslass · 06/07/2012 17:57

It's rained here constantly since first thing this morning. It's varied between torrential and a steady drizzle.

Every thing and every one is sodden - but no flooding locally.

Bunbaker · 06/07/2012 18:01

We have loads of roads affected by flooding. No trains until further notice and loads of other Northern Rail services severely disrupted in this area. It has finally stopped raining!

Mirage · 06/07/2012 18:36

RED WARNING just been issued for the South West tonight.

Our menage and fields have standing water on them, the farmer opposite is moving all his sheep away from the brook as the field has flooded and they are in danger of being cut off by the water.

I've lost another days'work and the DDs won't be going to the gymkhana that we had planned to attend. The rain stopped about an hour ago here, but more is forecast.

I don't understand why we can fart about in outer space and send robots to Mars, but can't shift the sodding jet stream.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 06/07/2012 18:46

Thank you for posting this mirage - that is pretty grave really. What a nightmare.
