met office

sorry guys. Seems odd to me that they are issuing it so far ahead to such a specific area. Will update as we get closer.

My kids are all off to cub/scout camp tomorrow night for the weekend. For one of them it's the first time they have camped. Hope it doesn't put them off.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 05/07/2012 20:22

Slalomsuki are they in the amber area? They need to be aware that in certain areas flooding is very likely (not just damp fields but proper flooding)

Definitely in the amber area. I am assuming they will take a view at 7pm tomorrow evening when it's due to start as to whether it goes ahead or not. Will have to make sure they all go with lots of waterproof clothes etc.

Bin bags too to keep things dry.

The rain has just started in Lancashire. It's very heavy. Not looking forward to a 350 mile drive in this Sad

Great start to our holiday - a two day severe weather warning.

GloriaSmud · 06/07/2012 09:33

Really awful here (Leicester). DH's got to go up to Nottingham for an emergency dental appointment and is wondering whether to go up the M1 (lots of spray, possibly quite a few idiots not driving according to the conditions) or whether it should be the A46 way (dual carriageway, standing water, perhaps not so many idiots driving according to the conditions.) Whichever way he goes, he's leaving plenty of time for the journey there and back.

Have a safe journey, a good holiday with hopefully some nice weather (there's got to be some nice weather during your holiday!), Helena.

It's been raining torrents here since 8ish (E Mids). My downstairs toilet keeps erupting with big bloopy air bubbles. Rather worried how the drains will cope as they are prone to blocking (stupid neighbours flushing all sorts) and we have three drain access covers in our garden :( If the shit is going to hit the fan, so to speak, it will hit all over my rather small back garden right outside the door. The only saving grace is that I'm off work with ill DD2 so if anything does happen I'm here instead of discovering it after work.

GloriaSmud · 06/07/2012 13:18

Metoffice are issuing warnings all over the place for tomorrow- we didn't have any warnings at all and now have a yellow one. Looks like another bad day for the SW and southern bits of Scotland.

3monkeys · 06/07/2012 13:22

Absolutely pouring here in Merseyside :( Mum and Dad coming from down south tomorrow, bet they'll cry off. All cricket and football cancelled = miserable kids (and Husband!)

Sparklingbrook · 06/07/2012 13:28

It's been torrential here (Worcs) for the last hour or two.

Helenagrace · 06/07/2012 17:54

Made it as far as Bristol so far. Rain not as bad as I was expecting.

Just heard that this weather system is going to pivot and come back over the south west so we will meet it again!

Sparklingbrook · 06/07/2012 17:56

M50 from M5 is closed apparently.

SuePurblybilt · 06/07/2012 18:04

I'm mid Devon and the rain (not very heavy) has only started in the last hour. Dry all today and yesterday.

Not looking good for tomorrow though.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 06/07/2012 19:05

Have you seen that a red warning has been issued for parts of the sw. ( some more info in the environment agency flood warning thread) could be 80 mm plus in parts.

SuePurblybilt · 06/07/2012 19:22

Blimey, really? I've had my head up me arse for days, not been paying attention. Will go look x

Sparklingbrook · 06/07/2012 19:28

Well it has finally stopped here but floods everywhere.

TheWombat · 06/07/2012 19:34

Eek - red alert for Devon from tonight onwards... Take care everyone.
