met office

sorry guys. Seems odd to me that they are issuing it so far ahead to such a specific area. Will update as we get closer.

Bump.

They've extended it to several areas of the country now.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 03/07/2012 12:57

Lovely! We're travelling to Cornwall on Friday for a fortnight's holiday.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 03/07/2012 19:59

I'd add inflatable dinghy!

Weather warnings all over the place now for the next few days. Friday's looking really bad for some now.

ChickensHaveNoLips · 04/07/2012 13:37

Oh, balls. I am so bloody sick of this drought

hopenglory · 04/07/2012 13:43

Nooo, we can't take any more

mankyscotslass · 04/07/2012 14:05

We are under the Amber warning (just) for Friday - not looking good.

ChickensHaveNoLips · 04/07/2012 14:06

It's orange over my house for Friday :( This weather blows goats

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 04/07/2012 16:24

Poxy bastard weather.

TORRO have issued a convective discussion for storms tomorrow with The possibility of hail, gusty winds and isolated weak tornadoes. It doesn't look like last Thursday, but nevertheless something to keep an eye on.

Great! More rain! Yay!

Trying the reverse psychology approach.

Failing that - am off to Greece on Monday!

mankyscotslass · 04/07/2012 17:08

Well, I'm hoping the rain will be finished with us by the last week in August, so that the Jamboree will not be too muddy.

The prospect of my 10 year old Scout, away for a week in a muddy field has given my poor washing machine the wibbles.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 04/07/2012 18:05

I had a closer look at the met office warnings which warn of the possibility of up to 100 mm on eastern upslopes in northern England. It also says that there is uncertainty over the worst area.

I have to say, Im struggling to keep up a little with the weather at the moment. I'd kinda like some quiet charts for a while, just until the term is over at least.

It never rains but it pours, OYBBK! Grin

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 05/07/2012 07:45

Absolutely Mooncup!
Still looking worrying for those in the amber area (and perhaps surrounding areas) so please be prepared for flooding.

I've looked at the models just now. Teeny tiny glimmer of hope showing on......21st July.

OP posts:
poorbuthappy · 05/07/2012 07:47

Just the 1 day OYBK?
We have got up this morning to glorious sunshine for the first time in ages.
Just feels lovely.
Sorry if it's raining where you are. Sad

mankyscotslass · 05/07/2012 07:50

We had heavy rain overnight here, and now it's sunny.

I'm wearing sandals to school today - but I will take wellies for the walk home!

MirandaWest · 05/07/2012 07:51

It's raining an amount just outside york. Am bored of rain tbh.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 05/07/2012 07:53

poorbuthappy - thats as far as the gfs model goes! But it does show a weak high forming - I have no idea whether it will strengthen or just vanish in the next run!
In between there will be drier/sunnier days here and there for many of us.

It's lovely and sunny here this morning (Leicester), my solar pond fountain has got a chance to work and hopefully things can have a go at drying out before the next deluge arrives. But after all this rain, I can safely say that the whole of my back garden is one big squelchy mud patch (and is matching my MN name!) It even squelches when I walk on it, thanks mostly to the bastard blasted clay soil that we have.

GloriaSmud · 05/07/2012 14:29

Amber warning covering more areas now.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 05/07/2012 16:51

Been a splendid day here once the cloud went away. Learning to treasure each warm sunny moment!

OP posts:
Helenagrace · 05/07/2012 17:33

Same here. Lovely long sunny spells.

The Amber warning has been extended to cover us tomorrow.
