Edith - quite likely where we are that it could have been military - we quite often have interesting things going on round here.

We get quite high things flying over and then dropping down low - you never see them, just hear them. Scares the shit out of the cat who I think, believes it's the pigeon that got away coming back for his revenge Grin

not tried it Edith - wouldnt it be awful to be so busy looking at your phone that you didnt notice the giant space mirror hurtling towards you!

Is it still Sunday as the most likely day?

Scarah seems to be emerging from her dustbin only for food, judging by the Rapture thread.

OhYouBadBadGhostie · 22/10/2011 13:11

Looks like it :)

This BBC article has just appeared. It seems some of the "fragments" are going to be enormous.

OhYouBadBadGhostie · 22/10/2011 17:19

that's a pretty good article.

Its a shocking weight to be comin g down uncontrolled - would put a fair dent in a roof!

"What makes the redundant German craft's return interesting...."

Unusual use of the word 'interesting'! I'm sure if bits of it hit someone's house (or actually hit someone), I'm sure their thoughts wouldn't be, "Oh look, a bit of satellite's hit my house; that's interesting!"

(Have made my way out from under our holiday caravan and made it home. Considering whether to join OYBBG digging under the floorboards!)

If you do, I'll share my sloe gin Gloria Grin

According to NASA it's down, and my ROSAT iPhone app countdown says -7 hours -1min to re entry. I can't find much on the internet though.

lostinwales · 23/10/2011 09:53

ABC news website this is the best I can find at the moment.

scarevola · 23/10/2011 09:54

Did they say roughly where?

GloriaSmud · 23/10/2011 12:34

Are we safe yet?
I'd love to try some sloe gin. I can contribute some blackberry whisky that I'm trying out for the first time. I'm sure even if it's awful we won't notice anyway after the first glass!

scarevola · 23/10/2011 14:12

Safe!

No eye witnesses, and probably into the Indian Ocean. If any hit land it would probably have been in Myanmar or China.
