here

looks like there may be a deep low crossing the UK Monday bringing potentially gale or even severe gale force winds to northern England and Scotland. of course the track and development are uncertain at this point but if it comes off it could potentially quite damaging. One to watch.

Worth considering staying in HarryPotter. There is quite a bit of flooding as well.

I was considering bundling our tribe up and leaving as the rain is pouring in two bedrooms and in the front hall but the roads are closed by the trees.

NettoSuperstar · 23/05/2011 17:14

I've just had to go out for electric and trees blown over and rubbish everywhere, and shop door all shattered.
It took three times as long because the wind's so strong, and I find it really difficult to breathe in it as I'm asthmatic.

The girls (one mine, one not) managed to con me into buying them moshi bloody monsters cards and an ice pole eachHmm

HeathersMummy · 23/05/2011 17:19

Absolutely wild here in N. Lanarkshire. Usual 10 min school run took 50 minutes. Trees are down on all the major roads around our area making driving very hazardous indeed. Will hunker down in front of the telly for the rest of the evening I think.

oh golly GO you need boats and stuff as well as wine and chocolate. Good grief!!!!!!
seriously - if you call the firebrigade (do they have a non emergency but urgent number?) they may be able to help you to tarp it over as soon as possible to stop any more damage. Or phone the insurance company who may be able to help you with an emergency call out.

netto? are they mad? an icepole? you all need hot chocolate!

is it worth making sure you've got torches and stuff together in case the electricity goes? charge up phones and what not.

Glen Ogle has had a peak gust of 100mph. That is pretty bloody impressive for this time of year.

Guy in DHs work had his kid's trampoline through his kitchen window this afternoon!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/05/2011 19:25

flipping trampolines (no pun intended). They always misbehave in stormy weather - they act just like giant sails.

A windy but clear evening here.

No damage or branches down locally, though it was very windy earlier.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/05/2011 19:48

The other stormy weather thread (in chat) is very dramatic!

Is that the 100mph one? I was Shock

I hope mums house in Renfrewshire is ok, she is very close to a bridge that usually shuts in high winds....There is noone to check though, so will just have to keep fingers crossed!

ohyoubadbadkitten - you are my favourite mn poster, i jsut love your weather posts! in the Borders here, trees akimbo, river rising, it's hang onto your hats alright!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/05/2011 20:48

awww redrobin Blush thank you! Take care :)

manky - it is. I think it is so easy for us to be blase about the weather, especially when forecasting is still as much as of an art as a science. When it shows its force it is awe inspiring but it also shows how dangerous it can be.

Trip to nursery earlier was ok but did need to hang on to the buggy!

OYBKK
Hijack - do you have any thoughts about what the weather will be like in North West Scotland next week? We've got a camping trip planned and are feeling less than optimistic about it!!

Wallace · 23/05/2011 21:31

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 23/05/2011 21:44

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/05/2011 07:56
