on the 19th March.

(Apologies for pinching this; saw this posted in the 'Chat' section and thought we could do with it over here, seeing as we need some clear weather to see it!)

mankyscotslass · 10/03/2011 11:19

It will be interesting to see if seismic/volcanic activity increases!

winterpetunia · 10/03/2011 12:08

It will indeed, Manky!

And skies are forecast to be clear tomorrow too, so we should get a good view :)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/03/2011 10:42

not completly clear I'm afraid but I think a good majority of people have a good chance of seeing it earlyish on in the evening. Quite possibly some mist and fog building up through the night in places.

goodbyemrschips · 19/03/2011 15:27

6.00-6.30 WILL BE THE BEST TIME BECAUSE THE MOON WILL BE LOW.

PeterAndreForPM · 19/03/2011 15:29

why does it look bigger then ?

whomovedmychocolate · 19/03/2011 15:29

Woo hoo and I am around to see it! :)

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 19/03/2011 15:32

It was the highest tide I have ever seen on the tidal river near is this morning, it was truly amazingSmile

The moons power fascinates me, don't fully understand it thoughConfused

goodbyemrschips · 19/03/2011 15:34

I believe it is supposed to look bigger because it is lower.

bigTillyMint · 19/03/2011 15:36

NOticed it was huge last night, but didn't realise it was the biggest for 2 decades!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/03/2011 17:11

It looks bigger because it is at perigee - the closest point in its orbit and it coincides with it being a full moon but the question about why a moon looks bigger close to the horizon is one that is hotly debated. wikipedia has a reasonable discussion on this.

tjacksonpfc · 19/03/2011 18:00

im all excited now i will try out my new dslr camera to get some pics Grin

winterpetunia · 19/03/2011 18:37

winterpetunia · 19/03/2011 18:42

I've just noticed this thread is a 'discussion of the day'. Think that's the first time one of mine's been one of those. (I've 'only' been here 6 years!)

OP posts:
goodbyemrschips · 19/03/2011 18:44

It is far more interesting than some of the dull threads ha ha.........

bintofbohemia · 19/03/2011 18:44

Too cloudy here too at the moment, gutted!

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 19/03/2011 18:51

wow. looking stunning here in Bournemouth! it's so orange, really wasn't expecting that. Smile

flippinpeedoff · 19/03/2011 18:58

It's very clear here, not a cloud. The moon is very orange but oddly not nearly as spectacular as a harvest moon we had here not so long ago.
Now that really was HUGE and really low and really orange.

tjacksonpfc · 19/03/2011 19:02

its cloudy here now lol. Ive got a cannon eos 550d goodbyemrschips still learning how to use it lol
