Whilst my weather eyes are mostly on Queensland today I shouldn't omit the advisories for parts of Scotland for severe gales and heavy snow tomorrow and Friday. Take care chaps.

Lots of snow around today then....

It does look like it will be quite a strong storm system even by Scottish standards with potential gusts of around 100mph tonight in Northern Scotland. Further south down through into southern Scotland winds could be up to 60mph-70mph or so.

Please keep an eye on Warnings particularly early afternoon when they should be updated with the latest.

Tomorrow Northern England will also probably have severe gales.

I wish I had seen this yesterday and it wouldn't have been such a nasty surprise when I looked outside this morn...

Beautiful and sunny now, prob about 6-8 inches of snow. Quite windy, i think - not been outside to check Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/02/2011 14:10

lol! I know, I'll try and do better next time. Must have got my programming a bit wrong this time.

It is gorgeous down here. Lovely blue sky, birds singing. 8.4C and my snowdrops are out.

TORRO have issued their first tornado watch of the year. The storm tonight has a lot of convective potential. lightning, heavy rain and hail are likely with the small potential for tornadic development.

Please not that that this risk area includes most of Ireland, all of NI and Scotland. Even with out the tornado potential its going to be a wild night for many.

Wild, windy and wet in Glasgow tonight. I hear 'things' moving about outside.

DanJARMouse · 03/02/2011 19:15

We are almost as far north as you can go, but only a sprinkle of snow this morning! It is very very windy though, and some nasty rain with it too.

Roll on summer!

Northernlurker · 03/02/2011 19:29

V windy and sleetish here in York.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/02/2011 19:42

:) thanks!!

Spot on Bad kitten, 2 enormous lightning strikes in Edinburgh last night followed by hail, very odd as it was only 3 degrees. Have never seen lightning when it's that cold or in February come to think of it.

PurplePillow · 03/02/2011 20:27

We have horrendous winds, few trees have lost branches etc not sure wot the gusts are but they're bloody strong!

At least one accident on way back from Dumfries so take care anyone who has to drive tonight!

conkersdropped · 03/02/2011 20:33

Mum is in Renfrewshire, she just got blown off her feet on the way home. Shock

I'm MSL btw!

TrinityMotherOfRhinos · 03/02/2011 20:46

dont be careful just DONT DRIVE Grin

mrspercival · 03/02/2011 20:47

had thunder and lightning yesterday; wild storms last night and this evening, extremely powerful winds with BIG gusts and heavy rain; branches down, garden furniture all over the place; we're 20miles N of Glasgow
