ds2 is supposed to be landing at Heathrow in the morning. Keep everything crossed - I've missed him.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 09:01

Hope he makes it back with out too much hassle.

Me too - it's a 2 1/2 hour drive to go get him on normal roads so we can add a bit on to that as we've got snow here. Could put him on the train home but you never know if they're going to run do you. And he's down to his last $.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 09:44

crumbs.
Christmas is quite exciting enough without major weather dramas.

Blimey, I nipped out about 1 1/2 hrs ago and they were interviewing someone on News 24, outside Gatwick airport and only had a few snowflakes falling. Just come back and they're interviewing someone else and it's throwing it down. Poor bloke looked like he was trying for the first human snowman! Get the poor guy in the warm!

winterpetunia · 18/12/2010 13:27

Bumping because they've closed runways at both Gatwick and Heathrow.

VivaLeBeaver · 18/12/2010 13:28

Birmingham airport is shut till at least 14:00.

mrspear · 18/12/2010 13:30

Members of our family boarded the plane at 9 30am only to then be told disembark. Trouble is there is only one daily flight to Albania ... what is the chance we will be leaving on the 28th; let alone other members of the family?!

WhatsWrongWithYou · 18/12/2010 13:33

We're off to Stanstead this afternoon (from Glos), hoping to fly first thing tomorrow.

Who knows whether we'll make it, or if we do, whether we'll fly?

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 14:04

There's a plane literally stuck on the runway at Heathrow.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 18/12/2010 15:09

Yes - it's probably the plane ds should be coming back on. Feck!

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 16:55

DD's friend (house mate last year) is on that plane - he's going to Australia ultimately, but I'm not sure which route it is.
He's had a bit of a nightmare journey as he broke down at Reading services on his way up from Exeter last night!

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 17:01

poor lad. He must be wondering if he will ever get there!

my dad and step mum are stuck at east midlands. they were meant to fly into heathrow :-(

Their flight to manchester from heathrow has been cancelled so now waiting to see what the next step is. They are sat on the plane waiting for news.

Funny thing is, we live in the east midlands so hoping they can just get off the plane so we can pick them up. Would be just our luck that they have to go to heathrow or manchester!!

My thoughts are with all of those trying to get to relatives........ bloody snow :-(

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 18/12/2010 17:36

ds's flight has been cancelled - trying to rebook now.

DH has been trying to get from Sweden to Humberside via Amsterdam. They put him down for a Birmingham flight instead as last night's Humberside one was cancelled. Birmingham flight is now cancelled. I'm not sure if he got as far as Masterdam or not but which ever airport he was last at was talking about him going to Munich or Paris. Then he was booked on a plane for Paris but last I heard that had been postponed/possibly cancelled as well. I think his phone has run out of juice as not heard from him for hours.

Might just be me and DD for Xmas. Sad

Hope so, thanks. I could cry, I know in the great scheme of things is no big deal and terhe are peoplea lot worse off, etc. But he's been away for 5 weeks and me and DD were so excited about him coming home. I'm at work early tomorrow so now I have to drive over to my mum's this evening to take DD there. DD is furious.
