Bloody hell, I thought I would get a rest this week before next weeks potential renewed onslaught. Every time I look at the weather there is another snow warning for someone.

Yorkshire and Humber this time.
Please dont get all stuck. At this rate we'll have the entire uk stuck in a traffic jam!!

Which part exactly I wonder? Am in York (got back from London yesterday) and it has quite enough snow. And it is a lot less than it was I believe.

NoahAndTheWhale · 07/12/2010 13:02

And my mum and dad are coming up from Cambs today and planning to go back tomorrow. Hope they are OK.

Is sunny at the moment Smile

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 07/12/2010 13:11

From the forecast radar it looks like the eastern side I think Noah? and the moors.

btw - looks like it might be the coldest first week in December since 1879. (nicked off another forum as I've not go the time to go through the data myself atm but you should be able to find it buried in here somewhere)

It is (rather lower than) freezing here. -14 yesterday I think.

We are to the east of York but only a few miles. Am hoping it doesn't snow any more tbh Grin

NoahAndTheWhale · 07/12/2010 13:24

The met office invent thing for "rain"fall seems to think there will be something falling out of the sky at 3pm...

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 07/12/2010 13:29

I have to go out now (dd has a violin exam) Will be interested in your reports.

-14C must be starting to make diesel run a bit thick!

jooseyfruit · 07/12/2010 13:32

oh god. not more snow, please.

glad you got back ok noah Smile

ChickensHaveNoMercyForTurkeys · 07/12/2010 13:36

Hang on. Did you say next week's potential onslaught kitten?!

jooseyfruit · 07/12/2010 13:41

i'd heard, milder at weekend (hopefully melting what we've got now) and then back to bad weather next week.

nameymacnamechanger · 07/12/2010 13:49

urgh please not more snow Sad thick ice everywhere now from deep compacted snow here, I just want it all to melt away.

jooseyfruit · 07/12/2010 13:51

it's fucking deadly down our street, compacted snow that's melted a bit then frozen solid, it's like sheet of glass

lostinwales · 07/12/2010 13:54

I want some snow . Not a flake over here on the west coast, not a blooming flake!

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 07/12/2010 14:24

:( sorry chickens. It looks like the cold is going to renew itself with more of the same.

ChickensHaveNoMercyForTurkeys · 07/12/2010 14:28

Kittens! Shock Please start a new thread entitled 'More Snomageddon' so that I can follow it obsessively and wail/rend my clothing about more snow/lack of snow. Pretty please?

jooseyfruit · 07/12/2010 14:49

oybbk; are your ears burning? we're talkng about you. have pm'd you Smile

MummyBerryJuice · 07/12/2010 15:31

How have I only just found this thread!!

Thanks joosey Wink It has briefly stopped here but we had another 2" or so this afternoon and the sky looks very heavy.

Scootergrrrl · 07/12/2010 15:36

We are near Beverley and its bloody freezing, although no more snow yet.
The DCs haven't been to school since Thursday because it's like an ice rink on the road and paths running up to school. Am starting to get cabin fever..... (rocks back and forth.....)

dbm · 07/12/2010 15:42

lostinwales - we've had big snow for 11 days now, and I'm sure others can beat that; would willingly do a house swap for a non snowy part UK. Problem is the transport scheme provides no way of escape!

NoahAndTheWhale · 07/12/2010 16:00

There was a small flurry this afternoon. And then about 3 flakes. Am hoping for no more tbh

sethstarkaddersmum · 07/12/2010 16:36

Haven't noticed any extra snow today (between York and Hull), but it is bloody cold. Our plumbing has gone to pot and the car battery was too frozen to start. Cleaning out the chickens was an interesting job given all the poo was frozen!

lostinwales · 07/12/2010 16:46

dbm my boys are starting to get very upset. I'm originally from East Yorkshire and there's loads there and granny and grandpa have told them all about it and they want to go and live over there. There is NOTHING, NOTHING in this world that would entice me back to Brid! I need snow here before I face a mutiny.

dbm · 07/12/2010 17:09

lostinwales - I'm with you on the no return to Brid thought; anyway I would pop a parcel of snow in the post to you but despite our postie being brilliant there are no deliveries or even collections from the post office Xmas Hmm

sethstarkaddersmum · 07/12/2010 17:11

I'll have you know Brid is in with a slim chance of becoming one day very fashionable now - David Hockney lives there dontcha know. And the surfing is good apparently.

coastgirl · 07/12/2010 17:24

Hey, I live round the corner from David Hockney and I'm cool! Brid's where it's at! (When 'it' is snow, apparently.)
