Friday's snow

Thankfully less for those who have been plagued this week :) Much drier at least to start but with a weather system moving in from the west later. I think the SE should stay dry.

western Scotland gets a good swathe come through. Later, a mix of rain sleet and snow comes through Wales and Cornwall. Take great care where rain falls onto sub zero surfaces!
This band moves across the country, so the Midlands, Yorkshire etc will see this.

Uh oh, HEAVY snow here again now, after a day of simply cold and clear. And not forecast I don't think, though we're quite high up...

TwentiethCentury we had the same problem with accuracy of forecasts. Ours are based on Woodford weather station which is 88m above sea level. We're at about 300m, and on the edge of a moor.
We've only had 2 days when it's snowed so far, and both days the forecast was for "light snow". I went out with a tape measure. We've got 8".
Where I work, which is near Woodford, they've got 2"... if that.

We are loads warmer now than we were at even 4 this afternoon!

Nothing so far! It feels less dry than earlier, but not damp, IYKWIM?

The sky looked like snow from the west before it got dark.

We are outside Guildford and its freeezing I just can't see how we're going to go from this to rain by 3 am according to bbc!

Heavily too, though not massive flakes. It's lying, got about 1cm in the space of 15/20 minutes!

Just started snowing again here. Only been snowing for about 5 minutes but the road is covered. So much for the grit.

I think you are near me bilblio? It's wetter snow too, not the dry stuff we got earlier in the week.

Mind you, our weather station sensor is in the porch. Perhaps it needs to be more exposed to be accurate?

Actually DH bought it (which is a bit of a bummer because I was gonna get him one for Christmas) very cheap from somewhere like Aldi I think. It seems to work perfectly well.

Hmmm may drop hints Dh always asking me what mumsnet says about the weather so he knows I'm interested / obsessed
