last week some of the weather models forecast blizzard conditions. They rapidly went away from that evolution.

I know - it is galling to see other parts under feet of snow when you are at best getting a bit of snizzle. Very glum making.

Kitten we are SNIZZLE CENTRAL in South West London. I am disappointed in the extreme, I love snow and I was feeling mega-cosy looking out at it earlier. Now there is nothing on the cars or roofs, just wetness. *Sigh.

It blood well is snowmageddon here!!!

I haven't been outside properly since last week!!
Tried to get the car out this morning and got nowhere!

SE LOndon/Kent borders here and it's looking pretty darn snowy outside. Bloody hate it. School closing early and so have to work out which is the lesser of 2 evils - attempt to drive and maybe get stuck. Or walk with 3 kids (including non-walker) for an hour each way. Hmmmmm.

I think I would like snow if there wasn't this wretched will it be open/wont it to do with the schools. First whiff of snow, close school. Happy me.

Even my kids are shouting at the weather forecasters now when they say the whole of britain is under snow.

They really need to have a couple of helicopters devoted to dropping bales of emergency chocolate across the Moors.

It took us about an hour to walk to school, meeting many other late arrivals on the way.

Couldn't take buggy with ds so we went at a 3yo pace.

Then back UP at the same pace and me carrying him half the way.

Am thoroughly knackered and dreading having to do it all again at 3pm.

Only about 3 inches here too.

We have snowmageddon. I have never known anything like it. SUrreal.

They said it would be "heavy snow" (last nights news and weather)here so I kept ds at home as it's 16 miles to his school and there's no way public transport could run in this. Is it "heavy snow"?

Well I am currently stuck with the kids 400 miles away from DH who's snowed in at home. It feels like bloody Snowmageddon and I'm dreading going back there.

Ennisdelmar - we're the same as you! While it was satisfying walking past all the crawling 4x4s it took an age to walk to school with no buggy and slow walking complaining 4 yr old and to have to do it all again at 3, gah!!

well I was going to say the Yorkshire Air Ambulance should do it and then I thought it might take them away from more immediately life-threatening emergencies so I think you are right, we need another emergency service
It could be voluntary and funded by public donations, like the Lifeboats.

DiscoDaisy - just picking up on the snow day thing. Surely people don't really get paid days off for snow without having to use leave? Where I live we are expected to save annual leave to deal with the days when we can't get in. No snow days for us.

I would certain donate and volunteer. (Mind you I wouldn't be able to get out for my shift)

Not much snow here either. The met office map was orange in the counties above and the right of us so we did get some 'snizzle' and it did settle but is nearly all melted now and its a balmy 2 degrees outside. I was expecting great things from this week snow-wise for Wiltshire but cant see anything exciting happening now :(

My 15 yo dd was up at silly o clock on snow watch (she loves the snow too) she was avidly checking her school website for closures but no luck there bless her.

Its getting irritating listening to 5 live saying that much of the UK is under a blanket of snow ... its not, it is fairly widespread but its not 'much of the UK'

never mind chaps - its not quite even winter yet.
