We are shopping for a high chair too.

Tripp Trapp sounds great but looks so uncomfy. Is this the case? Do your bubbas get a bit fidgety after a while in it?

Would like to get one but 'numb bum' issue preventing me from doing so at the moment.

TheAntiCod · 25/11/2007 20:16

ds loves his tripp trapp and at 5mo will happily sit in it to watch me cook dinner or do the dishes. we have the clic clac too, easy to wipe it all down.

Have just ordered a 'Bendy the Bent wood high chair' from ebay. Does anyone have one of these? It uses a 3 point harness - is that bad? (Re earlier post...)

don't know if that will work??

My paremts bought us a Cossato one from Mothercare. It costs about fifty quid, collapses really easily and stores flat. Wipeable and brightly coloured. We#re taking it on holiday with us this week!! We are really pleased with it and I find the harness so much easier than the stupid one in our Mamas and Papas pramette- anyone else got one of these? Fab when it was a pram. Now it is a pushchair- blinking awkward straps which come from behind the baby in only one place- his bum! You have to delve behind him to hook them out and do them up. Shame because it has been a great buy apart from this rather major annoyance!!

mothercae happy snack is a good one and has £10 off at the moment

mylittleponey · 04/12/2007 12:25

we have the basic ikea highchair - fab as easy to clean & sturdy. Before had a big, seat adjust one - tricky to clean.

Go for a wooden one that grows with your child. We got an east coast one from Jonh Lewis which they don't sell anymore they nly have the folding one. DD1 is three and still uses it and I can even stick my size 18 bum in it! We bought it half price for £35 and it's much better than the horrible plastic bulky Graco one we had before that a bit simialr to the Poly Chicco.

amidaiwish · 04/12/2007 13:06

my sister has this Baby Dan and i think it is very similar to the Tripp Trapp and the cushion is far easier to clean here

i have 2 DDs and never bothered with a highchair. I went from a bumbo to this handysitt here

and now they sit on high stools up at the breakfast bar or sit at the table (DD2 still uses the handysitt for this)

ernest · 04/12/2007 13:16

I've got the Baby Dan and it's miles better value than the tripp trapp, also doesn't tip forward when older child stands on footplate, also grows with the child. Costs £60 as opposed to nearly 3 times that once you get all the nec. baby attachments that aren't included in the tripp trapp. Would however say don't bother with the cushion. Our chair has been happily used by 3 and never bothered with a cushion. easier to clean, less unnecessary expense...

Safety first portable highchair is £15 on Boots website at the moment. I bought one last week and now wish I hadn't bought a'proper' highchair. It sits on the floor or attaches to a normal chair, is really sturdy, has a removable tray, folds up and will last as a booster until DD is 4yrs. Can also be hosed down in shower and takes up no room.

Thinking of giving my Kuster to the Grandparents and keeping this one for myself....
