lol, rr, that is a comfort!

caterpiller · 21/06/2007 14:42

Goes to show you should use your own judgement in the main....

VeniVidiVickiQV · 21/06/2007 14:49

Yes, as long as your judgement isnt fuzzied by stealthy, and rigourous marketing campaigns by companies such as Wyeth, Nestle etc

Aitch, one day you'll have to post that teething paper on here

Aitch · 21/06/2007 14:52

dont be silly, vvv, those multi-million pound campaigns have no effect on the likes of us! it's not just food...

VeniVidiVickiQV · 21/06/2007 14:54

Cor, could you imagine if M & S made formula milk or baby food? They'd definitely be using "baby grade ingredients" lololololololol!

Hey, I was linked a very interesting website by a very good friend of mine earlier...I will forward it to you, its a bit !

Im at work at the mo so i dont have your email addy.......

Kathyis6incheshigh · 21/06/2007 14:55

PMSL, Ruby.

Isn't that Gillian Harris woman cited by Ms Ford in that book we don't talk about much?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 21/06/2007 14:56

Oh, and Wyeth is a pretty 'meaningless' name on this thread I think. Perhaps I should mention that they make S M A. It might seem more relevant.....

VeniVidiVickiQV · 21/06/2007 14:56

Thats the very one....

Kathyis6incheshigh · 21/06/2007 14:56

'Succulent baby rice smothered in creamy formula..... golden puree of Lincolnshire swede.... It's not just baby food, it's M&S babyfood'

VeniVidiVickiQV · 21/06/2007 14:57

I'm not sure even M & S could make baby rice sound delicious

Kathyis6incheshigh · 21/06/2007 14:59

I'm sure Joanna Lumley and her breathy voice would do her best though

Aitch · 21/06/2007 15:03

actually, lololol, dh didn't go to M&S in the end, he went to greggs. i've just eaten a greggs' sausage roll! it was blimmin' lovely!

aitch at babyledweaning dot com, vvv.

Piffle · 21/06/2007 15:03

yawn...
bf both of mine ds1 and dd ( and thus far ds2 3 mths)exclusively til 6 mths and to 16 mths all told.

DS1 had solids at 6 mths hated them and we tried again at 8 mths, he love them then and ate poprper chinks from the start
Aged 13 all he won't eat is asparagus and mushrooms.

DD is 4 and the same with her but she wenaed at 28 wks. she eats everything.

What a loada shite
And unrealistic or hard to wait?
Is it buggery.

Shock
Grrrr · 21/06/2007 15:12

Feeling slightly inwardly smug here at my secret inner self-confidence to be led by my babies as to when to wean them and how to do it. There is, it appears, someone out there researching into this field who would not consider me to have gambled with their immune and digestive systems.

The thing is though, that her association with baby food manufacturers will mean that to any "6 months of milk only"/"WHO's guidance is there for a reason" devotees she is an out and out shyster, not to be believed over anything related to babies.

Having previously worked for the NHS (and in science but not in the NHS), I generally approach stuff cynically anyway in the belief that there is always a bigger or smaller agenda hidden somewhere and that statistics can be interpreted differently by different scientists.

Remember, there are lies, damn lies and then there's statistics.

Cammelia · 21/06/2007 15:13

Luckily my 2 babies, although very very intelligent, couldn't read anyone else's opinion

Grrrr · 21/06/2007 15:17

Piffle, you clearly didn't have any major problems getting both of yours to 6 months exclusively breastfeeding.

I did with one but not with the other. All babies are different and I think it's very judgemental of you to assume that it is always possible to reach the 6 month mark on milk alone.

In my book, blw means being led by the individual baby.

Cammelia · 21/06/2007 15:19

does it buggery

Aitch · 21/06/2007 15:21

for the record, in, er, the blw book that doesn't exist, there would be no reason why you couldn't offer your child food before 6 months. if the child can eat, so the thinking goes, they let it eat.
