can I just put my hand up and say frozen ice-cubes of food are actually quite handy (esp if you don't have a microwave), even past 1yo

(not mouli-pureed cooked pear, obviously)

how do you mean? like pasta sauces or somesuch? i like adding frozen spinach to mascarpone and pesto, i must say, very quick and easy and tasty. and frozen peas, don't think there's a better time-wasting opportunity than flinging some frozen peas on the baby's highchair tray.

atm I have cubes of cooked lentils (i.e. the split ones which cook to a soupy mush), which I warm up and spread on toast for ds, and some chicken casserole - tastier than boring grilled chicken breast and more nourishing. It's not pureed - just stirred with a fork till the meat breaks up a bit, so I can fit it into the ice cube tray.

ds is allergic to dairy and to eggs unless they're thoroughly cooked, so our quick options are a bit limited - cheese is out, for example. I'll give ds the frozen stuff if I'm having an omlette or cheese sandwich - otherwise we eat the same stuff.

Carolina - my DD is milk intolerant too, so both she and I (still bf) are off dairy altogether. I don't think it limits our options very much though - just means we can't dole out cubes of cheese as a handy finger food.
