Lunchtime inspiration...

Anyone willing to share what you give your LOs for lunch e.g. not a main meal? My 10m DD seems to have gone off bread and apart from soup, lumps of cheese, strips of ham and the occasional cheese scone, we are struggling . She seems to get bored of feeding herself after about one mouthful and throws it all on the floor as well! Tea time is much better which is reassuring....!

Watching with interest.....
We are in a never ending cycle of:
Cheese sandwiches (spread/ cheddar with or without ham)
Eggs (scrambled, omelette with or without peas/ham/tomatoes/cheese/sweetcorn mixed in) dippy egg with soldiers
Spaghetti
Filled pasta with tomatoe sauce/pesto
Jacket potatoes with loads of things mashed in to the scooped out halves then grilled

They have their main meal at supper time so hope we can get some ideas!!!

I've been doing savory muffins lately and DD loves them. There are so many variations you can do. And you can add veg in it too.

Have to say we often just have leftovers at lunch as I really struggle to cook twice a day (epic teething in this house results in clingy exhausted baby).

Or just picnic things like humous, pitta, cherry tomatoes although I'd prefer something more warming in winter.

Keep meaning to try grated apple and cheese on toast from the River Cottage book.

Hi have you seen the BLW website? There are some fab finger food recipes on there, many of which can be done in big batches and frozen. BLW www.babyledweaning.com/ Off to cook some veg nuggets!

Tinned mackerel/sardines is a good one here, with a bit of potato or pasta mixed in.

The Power Of Leftovers is strong in this house.

I also batch-cook and freeze little portions of things like:

  • sweetcorn and broccoli fritters
  • gnocci (a massive winner chez nous)
  • veg / meat chilli to go with couscous

Thanks everyone - had a look at BLW website and got some ideas!
