Can't sleep,as per ,and hungry,as per
And now thinking of all the yummy vegan foods that were discontinued
First up the Tesco nut cutlets, second Tesco soya chunks
Then the wicked kitchen sticky toffee pudding..omg delicious
Wicked kitchen pot noodle type pots ..my teenagers loved these
The wicked kitchen donuts and cinnamon rolls with icing on yum
Sainsbury's plant pioneers cheese sauce in a powder ,like 50 p a packet ..loved that over pasta .
Mr Kipling treacle tart ..
I bet there's loads more I've forgotten about ...

There are so many. What annoys my family and me most is that many old vegan lines & products got wrecked when the vegan market took off several years ago and the market was flooded, then all the new products/companies are now predictably disappearing, we no longer even have all the original products we’d been relying on for decades before that!

There were these vegan choc ices I used to love. I don't know who made them but as @cinnamongirl123 says new vegan stuff took off and all the old stuff went. I remember going into my local vegan shop during peak vegan times when they had some promotion on. It was full of very young women who looked askance at chubby middle aged menopausal me, totally shocked that I was looking for choc ices. Who said vegans all had to be into clean eating? I like chips!
Waitrose used to sell French chocolate covered walnuts. Not intentionally vegan but they were amazing. Now gone but we occasionally remember their wondrousness. I tried making some but they just weren't the same.

Not discontinued but harder to find than it was: Hackney Gelato Rich Chocolate Sorbetto - the best chocolate "ice cream" I've ever had, it's really yummy.
Unfortunately their website doesn't show which shops stock the specific items, so it's a bit hit and miss.
My local Waitrose stocks three of the Hackney Gelato dairy ice creams but none of the vegan ones, I have to drive about 30 mins to get it these days...
(it's so worth it though!)

And something I saw once during Covid was vegan pain au chocolat in Sainsburys (I can't remember which brand it was)
I bought two packs, they were amazing, and have never seen them again....

Tesco sell some in an orange wrapper 6 for about £2.50

I’m finding it very hard to get some Squeaky Bean products. I liked their smoked salmon, tuna and tortilla. The tortillas disappeared a long time ago but the salmon and tuna were available until recently.

St Pierre brand do vegan versions of croissants and Pain au chocolat. If you have Milk and More in your area they do them on home delivery.

Linda McCartney's sausage plait, Fry's polony and Squeaky Bean tortillas are all very much missed.

I don’t remember a Linda sausage plait, they are quite easy to make with the ready rolled pastry and made sausages
I remember a cheese and leek plait, was in a pack of two have not seen that for ages.

Another voice screaming vegan kitkat into the void… the shop by my work sold them. They were perfect for a lunch time pick me up on a bad day!

Also, yes the Covid era pain au chocolat from Sainsbury’s! I saw them lots but only bought once and really regret not buying more!

Update! My local Morrisons are now selling them. Spotted them last week.

Wonderknicks · 18/10/2025 21:29

Fry's fake chicken pieces. Great in stir frys etc.

BertieBotts · 18/10/2025 21:31

I'm not sure if they were vegan, but Tesco used to do these amazing burgers made of mushrooms and I think mashed potato. I loved them and have never found anything like them.

RosieTheHat · 18/10/2025 21:57

Cathedral City ‘cheese’ spread.

CalzoneOnLegs · 19/10/2025 10:28

@BertieBotts oooh I think I remember them, very savoury and had a sort of bubble and squeak texture, crispy on the outside, but not covered in a crumb ? they were nice.

BertieBotts · 19/10/2025 11:38

Yes!! Nobody else ever remembers them. I think they had onion in as well. They were definitely veggie but not sure if fully vegan.

CalzoneOnLegs · 19/10/2025 11:54

@BertieBotts ive been veggie for a long time so I do remember a few things as there became more choices, but I’ve noticed a lot of things also have gone, 😢If it’s the ones I’m thinking they were quite dark and you could oven bake them, they must have quite a bit of oil as they went almost like they were pan fried ? Delish !
also sadly missed Wicken fen cheese and leek sausages (veggie) they had a windmill drawing on the packet, they were so good.

YetAnotherAlias62 · 21/10/2025 00:23

Thanks to the people who mentioned the St Pierre vegan pain au chocolat - my local Tesco stocks them and they're yummy!
I now have to try not to buy them every time I go past 😂

FictionalCharacter · 21/10/2025 00:32

Morningstar streaky strips. Very old brand of fake bacon that I really liked, but it was withdrawn from the UK market. Some of the fake bacon you get now is revolting and tastes like a bizarre mix of artificial flavourings.

Autumnpug7 · 21/10/2025 02:39

Tesco plant chef pizza seems to of disappeared,to be replaced with a very small bosh one

Plamil mayonnaise. I'm not ashamed to admit I cried and I'm still not over it. Vinegar-y heaven in a jar.

HangingOver · 24/10/2025 17:58

Kit Kat's 😭

TheScottishPlay · 24/10/2025 18:02

I hate to tell you this but they've gone again.

soupyspoon · 25/10/2025 11:22

Hambledown Pie from Real Eats in the 90s. The most gorgeous thing ever

Plus the Sainsburys indian spinach and lentil burgers quarter pounders which might still exist but the recipe changed and now they're really dry. Haven tried them fo ryears since they changed. I think they were vegan.
