Bideford, Devon in June. It was fantastic weather last time we went so I'm keeping my fingers crossed we'll be lucky again.

MarthaFarquhar · 05/05/2010 19:45

Off to the Llyn at the start of July
It'll be sunny
We've never had a wash-out yet

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 05/05/2010 19:47

We're going to Dawlish in Devon in 2 weeks time. Im keeping fingers crossed for a mini heatwave not unlike the one a couple of weeks ago!

thisisyesterday · 05/05/2010 19:57

Norfolk, last week in August, fingers crossed we'll get to go on the beach!

Ruthiebabes · 05/05/2010 21:33

Fingers crossed.

serin · 09/05/2010 00:24

Norfolk, end of August, (was glorious last year and so it will be again this year).

See you there, this is yesterday.

tootootired · 09/05/2010 00:27

Scottish highlands, forever optimistic as we had a heatwave last time.

hungysavingexpertdotcom · 09/05/2010 00:28

West Wales, and hopefully Cornwall a bit later on. I am very optimistic about the weather this year.

streakybacon · 09/05/2010 10:20

Northumberland, to a cottage we've stayed at twice before, for two weeks. It's only an hour away too.

It will rain, but we will love it

littlerach · 09/05/2010 10:37

Pavlov · 14/05/2010 15:15

I live in Devon, and should think we will be holidaying somewhere in. Er. Devon We love it here, live in a city so getting out into the country is wonderful. We can travel just an hour to do what people travel all day to do. So we sort of think, with two young children, why stuff them in a car all day to go somewhere else when it is on our doorstep. That, and we are skint.

So we will do camping mostly, in Ottery St Mary type area, in South Hams area (good beaches), and the odd two dayer here and there whereever we take a fancy. Bit of North Devon for some sea and surf.

We will probably also do Cornwall for some gorgeous beaches - mawgan porth type of direction.

I would like it if it is nice weather, but if not, nevermind, we will enjoy it anyway. We are kitted out for rain or shine. This is Britain after all.

TheHouseofMirth · 15/05/2010 09:16

We're hopefully going to Devon but I'm going round in circles trying to decide where. Perhaps you can help me Pavlov?

I'd like to be somewhere ruralish within 20 mins drive of a nice sandy beach and also within a similar distance of a couple of nice towns so MIL can potter around the shops. We are taking DSs who are 5 and 1 so it would be a bonus if there were somewhere to take them if it were to rain...

merlin · 15/05/2010 18:45

We are off here first week of summer hols

www.heaven-in-devon.co.uk

Hope the sun shines so we can laze by the pool while the kids splash away!!!!

Dumbledoresgirl · 15/05/2010 18:52

The Lake District in August. Virtually guaranteed poor weather then but needs must.

I have been going to the LD most years for 45 years so I have no illusions as to the weather.

Pavlov · 16/05/2010 15:55

thehouseofmirth you want south hams area then imo. Near a few different beaches and near plymouth, plymstock, dartmouth, totnes, Modbury if (MIL likes quaint) for shops and other things to do. They are beaches with a beach hut and a coffee place type beaches, not funfair beaches. And some, have nothing at all, not even a loo

Are you camping, holiday rental, hotel? You want to look at Brixton, Yeampton, flete estate, Bovisand, wembury, bigbury, and all around that kind of area.

North Devon is also fab, fab fab for beaches, but perhaps not so great on towns. Although perhaps there are some at Barnstaple, and it is closer to cornwall, not not that much in it.

helyg · 16/05/2010 15:59

Snowdonia in July, then Derbyshire in August.

I love UK holidays, last year we did Somerset, the year before was Devon, the year before was The Lake District.

TheHouseofMirth · 17/05/2010 14:48

Thanks Pavlov. We're going for a cottage and have narrowed it down to one near Kingsbridge and one about 3 miles south of Totnes...

Shodan · 17/05/2010 14:55

Mid-west Wales in two weeks.

The PILs are coming too, and are early risers just like ds2, so am quietly hoping that they'll get up with him. Then I won't care if it rains or shines!!

(Actually I will. I badly want to take ds2 to the beach )

Pavlov · 17/05/2010 21:25

exactly the area I said then YEY do i get a prize? You will love it. Even if you end up with a ton of rain, it is glorious here.

Make sure you do the steam train while you are there. Steam train and boat ride. I will try to link it for you.

nappyzoneloveschinesefood · 17/05/2010 21:28
