And why?

And what would you do there?

I repeat, without children.

No sexual details please, what would you do outside the hotel room

Yeh but in Norfolk you can't actually see the sea when on the beach & well it's... it's .... it's just Norfolk isn't it.

Hassled · 09/08/2009 19:51

"you can't actually see the sea when on the beach". Are you trying to say our beaches are too massive, golden and sandy for you?

anonandlikeit · 09/08/2009 19:53

lol Hassled, i was knackered just finding the bloody sea, like Southend without the mud
and it takes ages to get anywhere, everybody drives sooooo sllooooowwwly!!

PerArduaAdNauseum · 09/08/2009 19:54

Or Holkham or Winterton or even Sheringham

Katymac · 09/08/2009 19:54

You can

You can paddle in it - we go to Sea Palling regularly & the children love slashing around

Where do you go that you can't see the sea?

PerArduaAdNauseum · 09/08/2009 19:55

Ah anon- did you do the Gwyneth Paltrow tour of Holkham?

anonandlikeit · 09/08/2009 19:57

Katymac, can't you make them go before you leave the house

Hassled · 09/08/2009 19:59

In fairness, it does take a while before you get to see the sea at Holkham. So long that once DS3 disputed that we were actually on a beach . But when you reach it, aside from seeing Gwynnie, horses and Samphire growing along the way, it's well worth it.

anonandlikeit · 09/08/2009 20:00

Haven't got a clue Katymac, took ages to get there & the tide was out. was yrs ago.
I must confess I'm not a born & bred Suffolker.. just live here.

TrillianAstra · 09/08/2009 20:12

Thanks guys, I have lots of good names to look at now. Neither of us is from this part of the world, so Southwold was the only place we really knew anything about (good to see it has lots of positive reviews).

None of you happen to know anywhere that has a microbrewery, perchance?

OP posts:
PerArduaAdNauseum · 09/08/2009 20:35

one of these? There's also a new place making whisky south of Norwich - here

TrillianAstra · 09/08/2009 20:37

So what we need is for one of those to be a town/village that is nice to visit, and for someone to recommened a hotel/b&b/inn nearby.

Not asking for much at all.

DP has found this which is not far from the Woodfordes brewery tap.

Katymac · 09/08/2009 20:39

here?

Katymac · 09/08/2009 20:40

OK

WHat sort of place to stay Woodfordes is about 5 minutes from my house

PerArduaAdNauseum · 09/08/2009 20:42

Ranworth is v cute. If you lurk around the broad and talk to people and buy them drinks you might get a boat trip too...

RedDeadFail · 09/08/2009 20:43

Oh come to Norfolk all the best MNers live here.

Holkham has a nudist area y'know. Sandy beach, nudity, what more do you want? Some very spiky grass on the dunes though if you do partake. Careful now.

alicecrail · 09/08/2009 20:44

Try brancaster beach on the North Norfolk coast. Really lovely beach, shallow water and about 5mins down the road from Wells.

There is also some sort of adventure trail thingy in Thetford Forest, my friend (who is young and has no kids) used to go a lot, and said it was great.

Katymac · 09/08/2009 20:46

I can get you out on a boat (if you want)

Now small chalet on tiny site with heated pool?

Nice B&B?

Lovely hotel?

Cheap as possible?

Luxury?

Come on this is my backyard

PerArduaAdNauseum · 09/08/2009 20:50

Ooh katy - Broads River Cruiser? What sail no?

Katymac · 09/08/2009 20:54

My Dad has a dutch sailing barge & a 1950's picnic boat , DD has a mirror & a topper........

We'll take anyone out

PerArduaAdNauseum · 09/08/2009 20:57

Dutch sailing barge? Where do I sign on?!

Katymac · 09/08/2009 21:00

Just CAT me - it's a mini barge oh & my dad smokes (but it is open air) - it has lee-boards & everything

PerArduaAdNauseum · 09/08/2009 21:06

PerArduaAdNauseum · 09/08/2009 21:22
