.....with a 2 and a 7 year old? Planning on flying to Inverness and hiring a car. I'm planning on booking into the MAcDonald B&B place and doing day-trip actiities from there.......so any ideas gratefully received.

Jus back from a few days in Fort William and loved the scenery so decided to go for perhaps a week this trip and check it out.

TIA MN

this is right next door to the mac donald place, it is lively and the bar has stuff on every night, kids allowed in half the bar area last time i was there, there is a piper who plays outside every night at about 8pmish, the food in the resturand is great, try a thursday night scottish buffet

Thanks v much OCV I'll bookmark all the sites. I don't think a week will be long enough, there seems so much to do (weather permitting).

Do the midgies come out in the Spring do you reckon? I've bad memories of the little blighters but mainly in the summer.

there is a cake place just outdie of aviemore that is AMAZING. if you are on the road that goes to the hotel with all the stuff for kids there's a sign for the cake place on the right. it's down the longest twistiest road ever and you think you are on the wrong road but NO. there it is. it's a garden centre as well and you can eat your cake outside.
AWESOME.
or there's always the waltzing waters!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 02/01/2009 12:12

oh taht was already linked.

OyeComoVa · 02/01/2009 12:23

midges are mostly summer i think

MrsBauer · 02/01/2009 13:08

We are thinking of going to Aviemore in Feb half term to hopefully let the kids see real snow! The links look great.
Can you recommend anywhere to stay with 2 kids under 5 and a dog!
Thanks

nkf · 02/01/2009 13:11

That is terrific information. Thank you.
I'm thinking of going to Aviemore in Feb half term too. Maybe see you there, Mrs B.
Has anyone ever skiied in Aviemore?

OyeComoVa · 02/01/2009 13:18

mrs b

these allow dogs but they are not allowed to be in the cabin alone, they are not allowed on the beach (kids do watersports) and they are not allowed in the bar/resturant

OyeComoVa · 02/01/2009 13:22

does this help nkf

nkf · 02/01/2009 16:39

You're a star.
No,scrap that.
You're a super star!

MrsBauer · 04/01/2009 23:03

Thanks for the link, but it's a bit more than we can afford.

Why not rent a cottage in Nethybridge, Carrbridge, Boat of Garten and the kids will also love Steam Train.
