Right, after this I shall say no more about it. The Lleyn is totally, totally bloody gorgeous.

Have just returned from two amazing weeks.

One day of rain, just one. The rest of the time we had SUN sun, yes sun big massive hot round ball, put on glasses and a hat, smear on the factor 40, phew I need another ice cream, bugger me it's hot, my word I have a brown body and a white arse sun. IN WALES.

It is SO nice over there. A few piccies on profile. Completely beautiful. Reminds me quite a lot of Cornwall but is more exciting will big ruggedy hills.

Hardly any other buggers there either so that also added to the magic.

Beaches are excellent.
Sea is cold but bracing and really clear and blue (looks as though it could be tropical island hot, then you get the bracing suprise).
Locals are lovely.
Porth Oer cafe still doing the cheddar and chutney paninnis, DH in gastronomic beach snackerage heaven.

Oh it's just very nice indeed. We will be returning in the summer.

And what fantastic cakes you make. I'm very impressed.

policywonk · 21/06/2008 22:03

moondog doesnt't like people letting on about Lleyn, you know

Sounds fantastic.

Slubberdegullion · 21/06/2008 22:04

ohh cakes....we ate Bara Brith on Abersoch beach. I had no knife so we tore chunks off with our bare hands. I was in family beach holiday utopia.

policywonk · 21/06/2008 22:05

hmm, apparently colditz doesn't like it either.

onebatmother · 21/06/2008 22:06

Wales can be very odd like that, can't it? How lovely, really glad you had a lovely time and equally impressed by cakes (is that a chocolate club near the lovely seal?)

Chaotica · 21/06/2008 22:06

I love it too -- stop telling everyone about it!

colditz · 21/06/2008 22:08

yOU HAVE TO GO TO hELLSMOUTH AND PICK THE MUSSELS.

But the best beach to visit has been buried under a mud slide and is gone

I can't ever even go there because I will cry to see my childhood covered in mud

Slubberdegullion · 21/06/2008 22:08

lol, I did a thread like this last year about it and loads of cross people came on and told me to shut it

onebat...the seal is with a spoonful of marmite that I had to eat....long story.

ahh now the best Bara Brith are to be found at the Castle Bakery in Criccieth.

I love the LLeyn too - did you make it to Porth Dinllaen? and the Ty Coch? pint of beer on the ebach while the dd's dig sandcastles.

Which campsite did you stay on? We stay at Eiseddfa at Criccieth and haven't discovered one further west yet.

I have missed you on here btw How was the Cababnon?

Lucycat · 21/06/2008 22:11

ebach???? no that isn't Welsh for beach it's OLucycat for too much wine.....

Slubberdegullion · 21/06/2008 22:14

Oh Lucycat.......

we stayed in a

in a

holiday cottage.

DH absolutely put his foot down, particularly after the vomit on 3 sleeping bags fiasco of whit BH.

The cottage was lovely though. Washing machine came in very handy (beach incontinence was rife).

A was really impressed by Whistling Sands until I moved to North East. All the beaches in Northumbria whistle, and they don't make a big thing of it.

Yes, it is lovely.

Lucycat · 21/06/2008 22:19
