Dual nationals travelling to the UK

A heads up for my fellow UK-other nationality dual nationals:
From the end of February, dual nationals travelling to the UK must use their UK passport when entering the UK. Since Brexit I have been using my German passport only. This will no longer be possible. I could be denied boarding at the airport. My son has only ever had a German passport. Through me he automatically has British citizenship which means he now also needs a British passport to the UK.

@PatienceOfEngelsThere are only a few ways you can keep Dutch nationality while you get another one. I actually qualify for 2. The first was that I came here as a child (1977), the second is that I acquired the same nationality as my husband. As long as I don’t let my Dutch passport expire then I can keep both. The same rule applies to my kids. Fortunately we live near London and I keep a keen eye on expiry dates. In fact I’m renewing my Dutch passport next month.

Is this a money making exercise?

The gov has realised there are many UK dual nationals who have let their UK passports expire and are using only their other equally valid passports instead.

I think it's an effortless way for the authorities to blether about border security and "seamless travel experiences" while making life difficult for an easy target group: obedient, law-abiding citizens like me.

Whatever: I have applied for a renewal of my British passport; and when I get it I will then apply for my son's first British passport...and then renew my German one next year.
