My daughter and her friend are looking for a couple nights away somewhere with nature/maybe coastal and a decent “young” nightlife. Not necessarily clubs but a few bars or pubs with similar age. Any ideas? Anywhere in Uk other than Cornwall (saving for another time)

Tynemouth; Seahouses; Salcombe; Brighton

REDB99 · 19/06/2025 16:58

Tynemouth or Whitley Bay

Lovelynames123 · 19/06/2025 17:03

Definitely the north east coast, Tynemouth has a decent night life, and they could get the metro into Newcastle. Obviously the beautiful Northumberland coastline is just up the road

legalseagull · 19/06/2025 17:07

Brighton for sure

Lincslady53 · 20/06/2025 18:12

You can get cheap flights to Cork. It is belting.

MSport · 20/06/2025 18:15

Liverpool. Full of art. Music capital of the world. A magnificent city to visit.

WhitePudding · 20/06/2025 18:37

Norwich, then take the local line up to the coast.

ThatsItIveHadEnough · 20/06/2025 18:47

Please dont tell them to come to Brighton, there are so many drunk idiots here on stag/ hen parties that we have to put up with. As a resident for over 20 years, it starts to become a bit wearing.
There have been lots of instances recently with bags being nicked off the beach, literally, right in front of the owners and they have trackwd their airpods in the bag but can't find them in amongstthe throng of people.
Loads of ride by phone theft too; we are turning more and more into London by the day (With house prices too!)
Bournemouth is a good night out, as is Nottingham or Manchester but, I guess, all big cities have the issues I have described.

WhitePudding · 20/06/2025 19:22

Or Cambridge

Muddlingalongsomehow · 20/06/2025 21:09

Bath. Loads to see and do. Beautiful scenery and parks. Great restaurants. Good nightlife

I live in Whitley Bay and love my area. I go into Tynemouth every weekend for the market at the station (I also used to have a stall there and worked in a restaurant as a chef in Tynemouth)

It's starting to get to that pont in the summer now where you can't get parked and it's uncomfortably busy.

I'd happily recommend any time other than June / July / August unless you're happy with massive crowds.

York.

MammaTo · 20/06/2025 21:40

Liverpool

PartyPlanner7 · 20/06/2025 23:09

Bradford. It’s City of Culture this year so loads going on. Stay in Haworth for quaint independent shops, bars, good food, Bronte Parsonage, Keighley & Worth Valley steam railway (which has a bar), good transport into Keighley (amazing new ice age art exhibition at Cliffe Castle and Three Little Birds Bakery are musts), the Dales and Bradford and Leeds city centres. Ashmount House is stunning accommodation - great food, hot tub, bar etc and a two-minute walk from Haworth Main Street.

stickybear · 20/06/2025 23:32

I can't believe no one has said Bristol yet!

MP79 · 20/06/2025 23:40

York? Edinburgh?

user2848502016 · 20/06/2025 23:42

Newcastle- get the metro to tynemouth or Whitley bay then night out in Newcastle city centre, along the quayside is lovely

user2848502016 · 20/06/2025 23:50

Liverpool could also work, easy enough to get the train or bus to Crosby, Formby or the Wirral for walks and the city centre is great for visitors
