I’m looking for an actual beachfront cottage in the UK ~ not one of those places that advertises a “seaview” but the sea is just a dot on the horizon. I would love to be able to step straight onto the beach and sit outside with my morning coffee, or evening wine, watching the waves.

It needs to be dog-friendly, have its own parking, and I’d prefer a cottage rather than an apartment. Definitely not St Ives though, it’s way too busy, and I can never find parking there!

I’ve been searching for ages and getting nowhere, so I’m hoping someone here might know of a hidden gem.

Any recommendations would be amazing.

The National Trust have a few beach side cottages . We stayed at one in Durgan on The Fal for a few years

@TedLassosGoldfish this is a stunning location www.bluecabinbythesea.co.uk

Ohhhh I love, love, LOVE this. The little film is absolutely enchanting. I'd really like to know the story behind the making of that video as someone, incredibly artistic, has put a huge amount of thought and love into the making of it ❤️

Thank you @Redwinedaze and also to @Henrythehappypig who mentioned this beautiful little blue cabin further up the thread

Thank you @Beginningtolookalot. We have actually seen this really delightful old school house when walking the coastal path and thought it was a very cool place to stay. I love the Falmouth estuary, particularly the King Harry Ferry which everyone should experience as it's so much fun, and the beautiful Roseland but I'm looking for sea and waves rather than staying on the estuary

Would NI be too far? If not then Carriguisnagh in Ballycastle is so lovely. An old Victorian house so a bit basic but still absolutely gorgeous. And literally on the beach.

Someone has already mentioned Camber Sands which is where I'd recommend. This row of cottages is right on the beach and people who holiday in them get to park in the main car park. Some of them accept dogs although the area of public beach directly in front of the cottages doesn't allow dogs all year round.

@SE13Mummy I used to take my kids to Camber Sands when they were small and have many happy memories of our time there. The cottage you've linked to is really lovely but this particular one doesn't take dogs so I'm off to google, at your suggestion, the other cottages to see what I can find. Thanks so much for the link, it's definitely somewhere I'd like to revisit.

Someone up thread mentioned Toad Hall and we found this fantastic looking place in Devon which we're thinking of booking in March.

The thought of being able to wrap up warm and perch watching the waves crash in on an evening I find even more appealing than being there in the summer months
