for the summer holidays...

Just a week/5 days whatever. I can get the train to London and train on from there but I don't drive.

DS's are/will be 1, 4 and 7.......

Beach/countrysidecity not bothered, just want to take them away somewhere for a break.....

Oh, and as cheap as possible (just not camping, I don't do camping........)

what about static caravans or is it just tents you dont like

p.s ignore the other thread

CountessDracula · 11/04/2008 13:16

yes do ignore it

now, we need a budget tbh

FAQ · 11/04/2008 13:16

I don't mind static caravans, I just don't fancy camping on my own with the DS's..........(besides I would have to buy everything and that would just make it more expensive lol).

Youth Hostels Association
They are very keen on people arriving by public transport so will have lots of info about trains and connecting buses

CountessDracula · 11/04/2008 13:17

marina · 11/04/2008 13:20

FAQ, I don't know how you feel about this, but given what a horrible time you have had in recent weeks, I think you should show this to your HV and see if she is willing to assist

nailpolish · 11/04/2008 13:24

omg aimsmum you must have been desperate for something to do if you went to south queensferry

chocolatespiders · 11/04/2008 13:26

would you go with another single family? would that make it cheaper?

something i would be intrested in..
i have 2 girls age 10 and 4

FAQ · 11/04/2008 13:26

Marina - we went on holiday 2yrs ago (well it was a 3 week trip to Zimbabwe to visit H's family......) so wouldn't qualify anyhow.

Seaton Sands doesn't look too expensive....

CD - that looks fun, looks a bit stuck out in the middle of nowhere, not sure about "transport" links.

Aimsmum, yes got to be school holidays, DS1 goes up to junior school in September (Yr3) and DS2 will be starting in reception, really don't want to mess around with them as they're starting new schools....

Chocolate, yes I'd definitely consider going with another single family......(hadn't really thought of it before)

Have you looked at Haven or Butlins? do you have friends you could split the cost with?

I tend to go woth my frind and her child as we half the cost but then me & dd, her and dc means there's only 4 of us. It could maybe be an option though?

You can get quite good deals too if you book late.

FAQ · 11/04/2008 13:37

don't have any friends to split with, the only friend that has children that would consider it has just come back from a (quite expensive) few days away and I know isn't planning on going anywhere in the summer because of cost...

Don't really know any other single mums round here .

Can't book too late as if I'm away on a Sunday I need to have arranged someone to play the organ at church (if it wasn't for that I'd probably be booking something now for next week lol)

FAQ, did you see my message on the otehr thread about the walkers brittrips thing?
I haven't looked into it but apaprently you can get discounts with it, I have about about 60 points if you want them.

FAQ · 11/04/2008 13:40

no I didn't, didn't stick around on the thread, wasn't up to reading any more condemnation....

Let me have a look around/search and see what I can find and I'll let you know

whereabouts are you FAQ? If you are down south are you near anywhere you could easily get to north france or jersey something like that?

I've just realised I think I've been rather slow, were you QOQ?
It was the organ that made it click.

Really sorry, didn't realise you and h had split.

CountessDracula · 11/04/2008 13:44

oh there are plenty of companies doing holidays for single paretns

We went when I was about 13 to the Isle of Wight on one it was fantastic!

here are some ideas

FAQ · 11/04/2008 13:44

I'm in wellingborough, but can easily get to London (direct train), so I suppose anywhere that be accessed easily from London is ok.

I don't really know where I want to go, sort of assumed UK would be cheaper, but not really bothered, just want to take them away for a couple of days/week.........I'd go anywhere

Yes I was QoQ .
