for the summer holidays...

Just a week/5 days whatever. I can get the train to London and train on from there but I don't drive.

DS's are/will be 1, 4 and 7.......

Beach/countrysidecity not bothered, just want to take them away somewhere for a break.....

Oh, and as cheap as possible (just not camping, I don't do camping........)

why did I think you lived in Devon or Dorest or somewhere?

Bridie3 · 11/04/2008 13:48

Bournemouth has good beaches and quite a bit going on during summer: Red Arrows dislays, etc, which can be free.

Tutter · 11/04/2008 13:50

what kind of holiday would you like, faq?

i'm sure you could get a very cheap flop and drop, if that's what you wanted

for example

plus easyjet/ryanair flights

CountessDracula · 11/04/2008 13:52

this looks good

MascaraOHara · 11/04/2008 13:53

check the trains if you're planning during the summer holidays. Aren't they closing whole lines every weekend or something?

FAQ · 11/04/2008 13:54

tutter, you know I'm honestly not bothered what type of holiday - I'd be really boring on that Holiday Swap programme, as I can't think of anything that would really "phase" me

Of course. It's holiday time so trains close down and the motorways have their repairs done. Silly of me to forget.

FAQ · 11/04/2008 14:01

anyhow, I'm being harassed my DS2 (and DS1) for DS2 to play on Cbeebies so that DS1 can play his PS2 in peace......

Thanks for your help, I shall have a proper look at those links later once they're in bed

have a look at park

I just did a quick search and you can get a broze 2 bed caravan that sleeps 6 for £494 7 nights 1st week of august

never been there, not sure if anybody else has..

FAQ · 11/04/2008 14:03

if you'd seen the holiday let we had when DS1 was about 2yrs old down in Cornwall, it was cheap (and AWFUL) but it was ok for a "base" so not fussy what the accommodation is like either (so long as it has the basics) (perhaps I'm a little too easy to please?)

FAQ, if you can a) fly, b) go either towards the end of June or (possibly) in the first half of Aug, and c) cope ith not much space, you and your boys are welcome to stay in our flat in Berlin while we are away (we sadly don't have enough space to accommodate you while we are here).

VictorianSqualor · 11/04/2008 16:56

There are the £19 per night rooms in travel lodges, I know they aren't fantastic but they are clean and big enough for you and three children, it would just be food you'd have to do which could work out quite expensive.

How far are you willing to travel by train?

How about Whitby - although that would be 5-6 hours by train, with a few changes. I don't know if you fancy that with 3 young children...

There's this cottage for £330 in the school summer holidays. There are several more about that price level on the same site, with vacancies for this summer too. Some mention child-friendly features like highchairs, cots.

I've worked out that if you bought a railcard and paid for seats for two of your children (keeping youngest on your lap), it would cost £81-135 by train, depending on the ticket type.

Bridie3 · 12/04/2008 20:38

I love Whitby! I had the best fish and chips of my life there, to the accompaniment of the Salvation Army band. Wonderful.

FAQ · 13/04/2008 12:33

ooo no wouldn't want to do Whitby.......too close to my parents I'm afraid (but willing to travel much further)
