UK coastal break suggestions please!

We're a family of 4 with two children just almost 2 and almost 4 years old and we have some time free for a UK break in September 8-11/12 for 3/4 nights. We want somewhere coastal, ideally with a hot tub but wouldn't rule out somewhere that doesn't have one. Can anyone recommend accommodation and actually somewhere to go! Need to have something to occupy the kids as well as the beach. Not feeling very decisive. Budget is £400-500. Mumsnet hive mind, do your thing please! I'm a rubbish planner 😩🤣

How far can you travel and from where?

NotFastButFurious · 27/08/2023 11:59

That’s not a big budget, you’re probably best looking at the caravan sites such as Haven, Hoseasons and Parkdean. But agree with @MinnieMountain it really depends where you’re starting from and how far you want to drive because I wouldn’t be going many hours away with kids that age.

cherryassam · 27/08/2023 14:07

Yes I’d be looking at Haven or similar. I’m not sure you’ll get a hot tub with that budget on a site with lots of activities for kids.

famtravel4 · 27/08/2023 14:12

@MinnieMountain we're in beds but can travel 4/5 hours.

@NotFastButFurious yes not the hugest budget but that would be for accommodation only, not activities. Also the activities don't have to be on site, we're happy to drive somewhere. So If there is a theme park or museum close by that sort of thing. Appreciate you taking the time to reply

Had a couple of suggestions but that budget won’t cover them. Think you need to lower your expectations.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 27/08/2023 14:21

Butlins Minehead. My colleagues' kids love it apparently

LaGiaconda · 27/08/2023 14:28

I'd spend less on theme parks etc and put towards the accommodation. Maybe a setting which is pleasant in itself, so less will be spent on outings I've stayed near this place - lovely beach - though the cheapest caravan is more in the £500 mark.

Croyde or woolacombe in North Devon are absolutely lovely

MarshyMcMarshFace · 27/08/2023 14:38

Look at Hoseasons in Dorset, and also AirBnB ‘lodges with hot tub’ Dorset.

Have a look at glamping sites where you have a lodge type accommodation. The Suffolk coast is nice around southwold for little ones. This is the kind of thing I would
look for suffolkglamping.com

0021andabit · 27/08/2023 14:44

We really love the North Yorkshire coast - Whitby is fab.

Or we’re just back from Llandudno which is great with kids.

My 22 year old son and his gf loved it too ! They said the catering for the catered accommodation was amazing !

allthehops · 27/08/2023 14:48

Ask on holiday cottages uk page on Facebook. If you put what you're looking for/budget owners will post links to what they have available.

Conqueeftador · 27/08/2023 14:48

Deer park in Cornwall with forest holidays would get you accommodation with a hot tub. Close to the coast, but not directly on it. Not sure there much to keep the kids entertained though if you aren’t all about the great outdoors.

famtravel4 · 27/08/2023 14:50

@MrsSkylerWhite happy to hear the suggestions. We just moved house this year so budget is super tight but will be better next year.

North Norfolk is really lovely. There are plenty of amazing beaches, seaside towns and there’s lots to do. Check out Wells next the Sea, pinewoods, or this place.
