Dinner recommendations walking distance to Leicester Square

Dh and I are having a Christmas lights/ shopping trip to London the week before Christmas. Staying one night at premier inn Leicester Square.
Can anyone recommend any steak restaurants for dinner in about 20 minutes walking distance? Preferably not a chain.

Flat Iron in Covent Garden

Whataretheodds · 09/10/2022 19:20

Hawksmoor Air St
Blacklock
Sophie's

Theimpossiblegirl · 09/10/2022 19:20

I was going to say the same. You have to book but it's a great steak and not that expensive for London.

Stretchandsnap · 09/10/2022 19:25

Flat iron Covent Garden is great would recommend

SillyLittleBiscuit · 09/10/2022 19:28

I’d go with Sophie’s, hawksmoor or flat iron too but there’s also Smith & Wollensky near embankment tube.

runwithme · 09/10/2022 19:30

Flat Iron, definitely

MissyB1 · 09/10/2022 20:12

Couldn’t get into Blacklocks booked up already! Hawksmoor is definitely in the running, I will look at flat iron.
looking up Sophie’s too.

Sushi samba in covent garden. Not just steak but delicious.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 09/10/2022 20:18

I thought Sophie's had closed a while ago?

7Worfs · 09/10/2022 20:22

My go to in the area is Cork & Bottle Wine Bar.
I’m not even a big wine connoisseur but I like the cosy atmosphere, the cheese platters and the beef bourguignon.

Whataretheodds · 09/10/2022 20:50

I really like flat iron but be aware that the seats aren't very big!

sidesplittinglol · 09/10/2022 20:52

Meat & co 👌

Dirty Bones, Denman St

Zedel's, just off Leicester Square. It's fab, always my go-to place when I have visitors come to London.

NisekoWhistler · 09/10/2022 21:03

10 cases

NisekoWhistler · 09/10/2022 21:06

Polpo in Soho

NisekoWhistler · 09/10/2022 21:08

Sorry totally missed the steak bit with my earlier recommendations. But definitely go to ten cases if you fancy a lovely glass of wines whilst people watching.

But further a field but very easy to get to check out the institution that is Le Relais de Venise l'Entrecôte

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 09/10/2022 21:10

Any restaurant in the Chinese quarter?

MissyB1 · 09/10/2022 21:23

Just been browsing Cork and Bottle, it does look good! Fab reviews too.

Sheekey's is amazing if you like seafood. (Though I haven't been for a decade) I still think about that meal sometimes.

SummaLuvin · 10/10/2022 09:10

Temper? It has 4 restaurants across London, but I class mini-local chains as different to the big ones.

thinkfast · 10/10/2022 20:22

Brasserie zedel if you like French food.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/10/2022 20:27

Came on to recommend Zedel, although service had substantially gone downhill the last time we were there, unfortunately.

HanSB · 10/10/2022 20:30

Hawksmoor Air Street, it’s a bit expensive but a really lovely place and specialists in steak

MissyB1 · 10/10/2022 21:46

Hawksmoor did look amazing but just can’t justify the prices I’m afraid.

I’ve booked the Cork and Bottle, nice variety on the menu and reasonably priced.
