Colwick Hall is lovely www.colwick-hall.co.uk/dining-georgetown.htm but is a bit out of the city centre
Saltwater www.saltwater-restaurant.com/ - nice outside deck if weather is good
Harts www.hartsnottingham.co.uk/index.php?siteid=8 and Tonic www.tonic-online.co.uk/tonic-nottingham/index.htm have lovely food too
If there are any other specific requests I can try and recommend further - I eat out in Nottingham a lot!

Not too sure on Saltwater or Harts as we really wanted to go somewhere where there is a garden so that we can have a drink and continue the day after our meal but thanks for the suggestions....I may look at Colwick Hall. Some one has suggested Woodborough Hall????

www.woodboroughhall.co.uk/ but not been there myself
Harts is very close (2 mins walk) to Nottingham Castle www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/sitemap/leisure_and_culture/museumsandgalleries/nottinghamcastle.htm though, as is World Service www.worldservicerestaurant.com/ so could be an option?
Newstead Abbey is beautiful but they only have a cafe not a restaurant. www.newsteadabbey.org.uk/
Or Rufford park http://www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/home/leisure/countryparks/ruffordcp.htm Thoresby Hall www.warnerbreaks.co.uk/index.cfm/Food_and_Drink/1266
or Belvoir Castle www.belvoircastle.com/index.asp
Hope that helps!

And you could walk down the river at Gunthorpe after Tom Browns. The Toll House at Gunthorpe is also good. Maybe eat at one and drink at another...?
My friend got married at Thoresby Hall and the gardens are lovely
