Legoland Windsor - planning the day

We're going to legoland this weekend. Has anyone been recently? Which rides are the most popular so we can try to do them before it gets really busy ?

I remember waiting in a queue for 2 hours when we went a few years ago and that was no fun!

Thanks

Can't speak for Legoland, it we've been to Alton Towers, Chester Zoo and a few other smaller attractions. Everywhere has been excessively busy, even busier than pre-covid. At Alton towers, 60 minute waits were standard and we had to wait 2 hours for 13. Angry

*meant to say this summer

AmazinglyGraceless · 27/08/2021 00:20

Definitely go to the new Mythica ride first.

We ran like maniacs when the gate opened (lots of people do) and queued for 20 minutes as a result. The queue was 2 hours plus the rest of the two days we were there. And it's wonderful, by far the best ride there so easy to see why the queues are so high.

AmazinglyGraceless · 27/08/2021 00:22

Also, 5-7pm were golden hours. People start to leave and it gets much quieter. We used this time to pick off all the smaller rides and there were several where the queue was under ten minutes, one with no queue and the dc went on twice in a row.

greyinganddecaying · 27/08/2021 00:29

Thanks!

@AmazinglyGraceless that's really helpful - we'll definitely make our way over that way first. Not sure if running will be possible! But hopefully it'll reduce wait times.

Buy queue hoppers! Expensive but they mean you can go on lots more rides.

DarnTooting · 27/08/2021 09:05

I've seen so many rides with 1hr or longer queues this summer! Agree that staying to the end is the right tactic, as is arriving as early as possible and picking off 1 or 2 big rides before 11. Bring plenty of food to eat in queues rather than stopping for lunch and use the app to find show times to plan around too.

How tall are DC?

Fiftysixthnamechange · 27/08/2021 09:10

Don't even think about going if you're not going to buy the q bot and skip the queues, it's an expensive day out to spend it queuing with bored children

NewLifePending · 27/08/2021 09:12

We are going a week on Monday with our 3 year old. Hopefully it will be quieter

L1ttleSeahorse · 27/08/2021 09:16

It is going to be absolutely heaving. We are waiting until september despite being annual pass members. Many rides an hour plus. Unless you can afford q bots you are only going to get on a few rides. It really is one of their busiest weekends.

The pirate show is worth arriving early for to get a seat and waiting (eat lunch?) Though

greyinganddecaying · 27/08/2021 09:32

Thanks all - kids are tall enough to go on all but 2 of the rides, so there are plenty of options, just trying to get the timing right so the queues are bearable.

I was hoping that if we can get a couple of bigger rides done in the first hour or so that will make things easier.

Is the water/splash area still there?

L1ttleSeahorse · 27/08/2021 10:12

It depends what you see as bearable! You can download the legoland app now and have a look at the queues in "real time " at points today to see what they are like.

L1ttleSeahorse · 27/08/2021 10:24

Sorry the app is telling me it will only show queue times when at the park!

This website seems to have updates though...
queue-times.com/parks/27/queue_times

So the park has been open 20mins and already

Sky rider 55mins
Dino coaster 45mins.
Coastguard 35mins
Driving 45mins
Sky lion 110mins

The little rides are all roughly 5mins though!! This is because many people rush to do the popular rides first.

L1ttleSeahorse · 27/08/2021 10:26

Hydras challenge 60mins.
Vikijingbriver splash 35.

Stretchandsnap · 27/08/2021 10:31

I went earlier in the summer and it was absolute madness - queues were 90 mins long coastguard, sky lion and drinking school. and it was so busy everywhere - you could barley walk around as there were so many crowds of people in the way. The queue app was also underestimating the times by about 15 mins. I have been there quite a few times (pass holders) and it was at least 50% busier than I have ever seen it before. Even the queues for food were crazy - we waited 25 mins to buy an icecream

Stretchandsnap · 27/08/2021 10:32

Drinking school - driving school could have done with a few drinks to get through the queues!

greyinganddecaying · 27/08/2021 10:34

Sounds like we're going to need to arm ourselves for a few long waits!

Seriously get the queue bot things. You’ll be lucky to manage more than a couple of rides without it. We went on a weekday before the English state school holidays had started and it was still chaos. An hour queuing for some of the bigger rides was pretty standard.

Thurlow · 27/08/2021 10:49

Definitely take a packed lunch to eat during the queues, that saved us a lot of time when we went the other week. Still only managed a few rides though as all the queues were an hour long!

imacuddler · 27/08/2021 10:49

Have a look on you tube. There are videos showing you the best plan.
Get there before opening times with precooked tickets so you can be front of the queue.
Run/ walk as fast as you can to the most popular ride probably towards to back of the park, do that then fast walk to the next most popular.
We have managed to fit a few rides in other parks like this in the first hour.
It's not relaxing though!!

Bunnycat101 · 27/08/2021 12:23

I’ve been looking at the app at random intervals over the past few weeks and there was one day where literally everything was an hour plus even the rubbish rides. The weekends don’t seem to have been as bad as week days oddly. It has made up my mind to only go with the queue bots. It would be hellish doing that much queueing with small kids.

Today doesn’t look as bad as some of the worst days I’ve seen. Sky lion is only 90 mins rather than 2 hours at the moment but still long waits for things like the driving school.

L1ttleSeahorse · 27/08/2021 12:36

Wow it must have been bad earlier in the week! Today looks awful to me

Currently most rides 60min+!

I could not do that...

You need to get the queue hoppers if you can at all afford it.
