Thats it really, we are looking for a nice city that is good for shopping, we like cities that are not like the normal 'high strret'. Any reccommendations please, we did chester last year and Bath before that. Travel isn't a problem as we plan to stay in area.

thanks.

Brighton. Loads of independent shops. I don't live there any more, but intend to do my Christmas shopping down there.

(Sorry for 'C' word.)

I can recommend York, loads of lovely indivdual shops as well as High St.

Littlefish · 02/10/2007 09:19

Cheltenham is lovely - the Montpellier area is full of independent shops, plus there's the Queens hotel for afternoon tea.

policywonk · 02/10/2007 09:31

Ooooh that's a good idea Custy. I might take you up on that. Where do I sign?

Tortington · 02/10/2007 19:45

policy you don't sign - just stick it in your diary and we will sort out a venue nearer the time

OOh come to Harrogate. Not many high street branded shops but loads of boutiques....

bumperlicious · 02/10/2007 19:53

another vote for cheltenham. You could do the town one day and one of the beautiful cotswold villages like Broadway the next day.

I say brighton.... bag of chips by the sea, walk on the pier... plus its not far from my home town!

trixyortreatmalixy · 10/10/2007 16:02

Glasgow definitely. My SIL used to come from london to Glasgow to do her Xmas shopping.

Another vote for Harrogate. I stem from there, good choice of shops, lots of coffee shops for breaks + nice towns nearby eg. Knaresborough. ~Where are you planning to stay? Hotel, b&b, travel lodge, holiday inn? We stayed at the Holiday inn last time-very nice, (my parents are just down the road, they had the kids whilst we partied!)
