I've never stayed there but the food at the Lodore is very nice and the views (even from the garden!) are breathtaking. We've had lovely "pub lunches" there three years running. Lodore Falls Hotel

Oooh, and they have special offers on til the end of March...

MamaG · 27/02/2007 15:45

ooh
if i find out where you are going i may lurk to see if i can spot you

Blu · 27/02/2007 15:45

Watching the Ullswater steamer arrive and depart, arrive and depart....

Twig, I am just so envious that you have this chance, and wherever you go it will be fabulous, and I hope you have a wonderful time.

We will be at Ullswater at half term, in a v scruffy cottage, and Ds will be shrieking at Howtown because minnows are very easy to catch under the bridge there!

Oh, I've just seen you want to go in April.

detoxdiva · 27/02/2007 15:54

Oh, bugger - just seen this again in active convos, and noticed the great big LAKE DISTRICT at the beginning of the title...clearly my earlier suggestion of Burford must have looked a tad odd

(Take pity on me..I've had a stressful day on the phone to countless estate agents and solicitors..grrrrrr..that's another thread...)

Twiglett · 27/02/2007 15:55

giraffeski .. Oi loike 'the retreat' at the howbeck I must admit

I love Burford, my family are all from this lovely village (years ago)
But live in the lakes..

bubblerock · 27/02/2007 16:05

There are a fair few on lastminute.com - if you go through quidco you get 3% back too

Giraffeski I have bookedmarked your sister's hotel as ILs live in Arnside and am attempting to talk DH into a night (or two) away next time we are up there

Bozza · 28/02/2007 14:46

I would love to go to the lakes without children. twig do you think your sister would notice if there were 2 6yo boys and 2 2yo girls - company for each other and all that?

How about The Old England or the Low wood - both nice hotels! The Old England is my parents' hotel of choice. Also nice is Storrs Hall

girrafeski side-steps the 'without' in Bozza's post quite neatly I feel

you're all fab .. keep 'em coming

anybody got any great B&B recommendations (and what's the score with B&Bs nowadays, does one have to be out of the place by a certain time and stay out until a certain time?)
