Thank you everyone . Thanks 5mad I'm very impressed with your Internet searching!

I think I'm getting a bit obsessed, my DD is 17 months old and I don't think she's bothered either way! I think really this is a toy for me Grin

I do like the John Lewis one too, if only it had a matching fridge! eBay have some nice looking ones and ate loads cheaper. Xx

well i did see just toy fridges on ebay as well, they were generally plain wood, you could paint it to match.
its a shame its only available in pink, but its not a hideous pink, the only difference i coudl see between the pink one and our blue one other than the colour was our cooker had a drawer under the oven on the right hand side, whereas on the pink one its an open shelf? the handles, cooker top, sink etc are all the same.

you have no idea how long i spent googling and looking at toy cookers when we decided to get one!

btw there is a make called melissa and doug that do wooden play food, we have these www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Melissa-and-Doug-Bake-and-Decorate-Cup-Cakes-Play-Food-Brand-New-/190645523395?pt=UK_Toys_Creative_Educational_RL&hash=item2c635bd3c3

which are toy cupcakes and they come with special 'icing pens' and you can colour in and decorate the icing! my boys LOVE them, they also do some cookies with various toppings that velcro on and LOADS of other stuff! just type melissa and doug food, into the search bit on ebay, in the toys section andyou will find loads, they do other wooden toys as well, not just play food, but their play food is AWESOME!!

these are the cookies, that we also have! another big hit in our house, esp as they come with a tube to put the cookies in and a play baking tray etc!

Oh 5mad, the Melissa and Doug stuff seem lovely. All I need now is the kitchen....

i wonder if you got the pink one if you sanded it down you could repaint it?

or i would get a red one and then on ebay they do the plain fridges and you could paint it to match? or tbh a fridge could be made fairly easily?

have fun shopping, i get quite precious about our toy cooker and play food, its the one toy that i make sure is all neat and tidy and organised and all the baking trays go in the oven, a drawer for oven gloves and aprons etc, another cupboard has the cooking pots, pans, utensils and tea set and then all the play food i organise neatly.... Blush honestly i bought it for my children...

Ha ha, you're right, they're a great size to tidy up all the pretend food! My DH thinks I need to get grip Smile

Perhaps I should start getting the Melissa and Doug stuff in preparation.... Xxx

DS has the elf retro one that others have mentioned which is almost identical to the kidkraft kitchen in red.

I came acrross this little tykes one later on though which I liked. Lots of cupboards etc.

Costco usually do wooden kitchens at a good price at Christmas - worth watching out there from around next month if you have a card. They've already started doing more toys.

Thanks Scottish, I'll check out Costco. Xx

Hello everyone, just thought I'd let you know that I've finally ordered a toy kitchen. It's only took a 3 months of deliberation!

Try www.play4progress.com they have a range of wooden units. Some are the single retro style and some are the larger range models.
They even have a wonderful one that my daughter is after on her christmas list, it even folds down so it can be stored away behind a cupboard or under the bed. Which is very handy when space is so precious !
