Have I overdone the kettlebell sessions and ended up exhausted?

Hi all,

I have recently increased my kettlebell weight to 10kg. I’ve been doing 3 x 20 min sessions per week for a month. This past 2 weeks I have been absolutely exhausted, like a weak feeling. I was a total beginner before this.

I have only just in the past week realised I haven’t been enough carbs or protein so really trying to sort that. Have I overdone it? I’m thinking I’ve burned myself out.

i have a 3 yr old so I don’t get much rest really.

Thanks

It’s unlikely to be a few extra kg alone in short sessions.

How is your diet overall? Are you losing weight?

Rest is very important. Can your get some early nights?

I have a 16kg kettlebell and doing twenty minutes a day for the last six weeks from a standing start. I'd say it's unlikely that was the cause.

Weights give me more energy and a get up and go feeling.

Probably more likely you've picked a virus up from the 3 year old!

It depends what you’re doing with a kettlebell, but basic KB swings of 10 kilos is highly unlikely to be the cause.

Kettlebell swings gave me vertigo.

Too scared to use it now.

No way are you burned out. Not to disparage your work so far.

i would try and go for longer sessions. Or more frequent sessions.

Sleep is really important. Is yours broken?

Yes I do still have a broken sleep. Maybe one or two wake ups a night.

Could it be that I realised I was eating under 100g of carbs a day? As I have really upped the carbs and I’m feeling a bit better.

Have you tried taking creatine? This aids muscle recovery. I find it has really helped with my energy levels.

Protein. Make shakes with protein powder.
