Weight training and vaginal prolapse

I'm getting mixed messages about weight training.
Have a prolapse buts going to be at least 6 months before I can see a consultant.
I've been reading up on what I should and shouldn't do. I found that I shouldn't be doing leg press, squats, lunges and also fell running ( something else I enjoy) I gave all that up but now I'm reading that it's ok to do those things.
Has anyone got any expierce of training with an untreated prolapse.

Have you had proper women’s health physio input?

notacooldad · 22/05/2024 07:05

@Showmethemoneyyy
No. I went to the doctors in November who gave me an examination to confirm what I already knew, that I had a prolapse and sent off a referral to the hospital. I phoned the hospital yesterday to see when my appointment was due and it's at least another 6 months away.

It would definitely be worth going to a specialist women's physio.

I’ve got an untreated prolapse and do most of the things on your list including fell running. I am careful with strength training not to
do anything that I can feel putting too much pressure on the prolapse, but other than that I don’t worry about it too much

In that case then please, please see a physio first. In fact I would imagine they won’t offer anything else until you have. It’s worth seeking a really great evidence-based specialist - I can recommend one if you happen to be in central/west of Scotland. They can offer you advice on both remedial exercise and also what else you are ‘safe’ to do in the meantime. It may also make an incredible difference to your symptoms. Surgery won’t be on the cards unless you are absolutely certain you have completed your family.
