Online training programme to tone lower body

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can recommend an online training programme (either free or paid) focused on toning the lower body (lower abs, thighs, bum)? I'm looking for something I can do using free weights rather than machines. Anyone have any suggestions, please?

Stronger by the day is good. You'd probably have to just select the lower body bits though - a good programme would want to keep balance rather than just work on one bit.

It is not possible to tone certain parts of your body. You can make your lower body stronger, increase mobility and prevent injuries which are awesome fitness goals, but the only way to appear more toned is to lose a percentage of your body fat. Any program that suggests other wise is a dishonest.

You build muscle and lose body fat. So if you only built muscle in your lower body, and lost body fat, you'd only see a bigger lower body. Hence all the men that walk about who have skipped leg day.

Hi, Thanks for the responses. I'm already fairly lean and toned on top, hence wanting to focus more on my lower body. I don't agree that it isn't possible to target specific areas — squats will tone the thighs, sit-ups will tone the abs, push-ups will tone the arms, for example. I know what types of exercises I can do, but I'm just looking to find a programme to help structure my routine. I'll probably end up getting PT, but hoping to avoid the expense (although I could definitely do with the accountability) 🙂

Squats will 'tone' (build muscle) in more than just your legs

Sit ups wont have a visible effect on your abs.

You might find programmes that have more of a focus on lower body, but no decent PT would write a programme that only had lower body exercises because it would be unbalanced, and if it was exercises that isolated the lower body (bodybuilding style) it wouldn't be enough volume or intensity to make a difference on its own.

You could look at Strength and Yoga for Runners - obviously aimed at runners, but you absolutely don't have to be a runner if you're not, and the exercises are mainly lower body and core. There's an app and it offers a 7 day free trial.

There is a 30 minute workout each week and a 30 minute yoga session but you also have access to the whole of the back catalogue as well as various bonus videos for certain body parts.

Squats and push ups tone your whole body, by the way!

Look up Caroline Girvan on YouTube. She has an app, but lots of her programs are on YouTube.

Great, thanks for the suggestions :)
