There. I have said it.
I have just checked my bmi, i knew i was putting on a lot of weight but this is a new low. Im not happy with how i look, i gave up smoking 2 years ago which is wonderful but now i feel unfit and unhealthy which is not what i wanted.

I have my first holiday abroard in 18 years coming up next year and i dont want to he an unhealthy lump whilst by the pool or exploring.
I did the 5:2 diet but didnt have much success and am thinking about doing a 16:8 intermittent diet, i am an emotional eater who also eats when bored and work shifts although food is readily available.

Any tips, dh helpfully tells me to 'just stop eating'.
I want to have a certain amount of control which the 16:8 appeals as well as not having to constantly think about food

Theres a section specifically for intermittent fasting, you may be better moving your thread there.

I've been doing 16/8 for a while now. It's massively helped me, initially I just ate whatever I wanted during those 8 hours, and then over the weeks as I got used to it, I made sure that the choices I made were good ones. I have 3 meals, usually seeded toast and peanut butter for breakfast, a salad or soup for lunch, and a small baked potato with a mountain of veggies and some protein for early tea.

It's very black and white for me, which is why it works well. I eat from 8.30am to 4.30pm, and nothing goes into my mouth after! It's been a lifesaver for stopping the awful evening snacking I used to do. I never snack now, just eat my meals.

I've lost over a stone and a half with little effort.
