Weightlifting shoes for women - recommendations?

Hi,

I've been lifting quite a lot (a lot of squats) over the last few months and I've completely destroyed my trainers that I wear in the gym. I thought that it's probably a good excuse to get a proper set of weightlifting shoes. There doesn't seem to be a lot around specifically for women though.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good ones?

Funnily, I just bought some a couple weeks ago. I got the Adidas Powerlift 3.0s and the difference compared to my old trainers is night and day. They make squats feel so more natural and make my feet just feel planted to the floor.

You're right that there isn't a lot of information for women. But there is a bit out there like this powerliftingbelts.org/best-womens-weightlifting-shoes/ which I used to choose mine. So if you're into your squats, you will feel a huge difference by getting a pair. Only problem is that they're not great for other sorts of exercise. I wouldn't go for a jog in them Wink

Don’t know what size you are but Nike, Adidas and Reebok all do lifting shoes for women. Bare foot is my preference when I’ve forgotten mine though.

19lottie82 · 13/11/2017 17:19

Adidas and Reebok online outlets usually have decent ones at reasonable prices.

NeverTooOldForAnything · 20/12/2017 08:39

I have had the Adidas Powerlift 3 for a while and they are really good for the price.

You will probably find that you can squat a lot more weight in them, because they give you great stability when you're pushing off the floor.

You definitely shouldn't use them for anything else though, other than maybe bench if they help you get more leg drive (doesn't work for me as my legs are quite long, but some of the ladies who train with me swear by benching in squat shoes)

If you squat often they are definitely worth buying

Do they need to be specifically for women? I use Adidas Adipowers and I love them - It's like setting your feet into cinder blocks.

I also love the look of the Nike Romaleos!

Luxembourgmama · 30/01/2018 13:28

I like rista shoes. They're good for wide feet.

soundslikeballons · 14/02/2018 21:58

Nike Romaleos–I found some on ebay in my size, I saved and saved and saved.. and they are amazing and worth every penny!!

I love the Nike Metcon 4. Really sturdy, quite heavy but surprisingly comfortable

milli544 · 28/01/2020 06:56

I have Adidas Powerlift and they are really best one , for this regard. Price is normal not that high.
Saw this on internet and liked it.

I have quite a few pairs of ryderwear d-maks. They're really comfy and brilliant ankle support.

If you do buy a pair, be prepared to pay customs charges because although the website is UK, they're actually an Australian brand.

Weightlifting shoes for women - recommendations?
Cormoran · 07/07/2021 21:22

I am against the current here. I lift in minimalist shoes.
I have the New Balance Hi-Rez.

Minimalist shoes are not for everyone. At home, I go barefoot.

Wombat36 · 07/07/2021 21:36

I used to wear Merrell Gloves, which were fine. Got some Adipowers, couldn't get on with them, too narrow. Do have some More Mile ones now but don't lift... They are solid & well-priced.

Rollerbird · 07/07/2021 23:05

What are good for a wideish foot but a narrow heel and not good ankle mobility ("!not asking much am I!!)

coogee · 11/07/2021 13:03

I just wear a pair of ordinary Karrimor trainers. Do special weightlifting shoes make a noticeable difference?

Rollerbird · 11/07/2021 13:26

I mean for olympic lifting.
So with the heel lift and rigid sole
