Hi all,
So a friend has had a few goings on and things being knocked around or almost thrown in her house. Also, things going missing and reappearing! What can this be put down to, if spirits don’t exist?!
I think I’m a believer and am curious.

Has anyone else ever had anything move in front of them, in their home?

Aged about 13 I placed a glass of water down on the table. It slid off and landed on the floor. My gran had died and I was sure I’d heard her voice on the day of the funeral, (I still think it was her voice)I was pretty freaked out by both events until my 25 year old older brother explained how the water slid off, something about it being in a puddle of water on the table and surface tension of the water caused the glass to slide off.

Another one. My mum had died, I was married by then and we had a telephone answering machine. It was beeping one day, Played the message back and my mother’s voice came through the speakers. She was sorry she’d missed me and would call back later. It floored me, literally. Mum had been dead about five months by then, Whether it was an old message or it was mother reaching out from beyond is up for debate. But we always deleted messages as soon as we heard them..

30 years ago I was up in the night with then 4 month old DC1 who had horrendous colic, 6th night in a row, I was running on fumes. He finally settled but the TV was still on ( I'd put it on for white noise). If I moved I'd wake him but I cant sleep with it on. I said out loud " If there is anyone around please switch this telly off!"
It turned off.
It was an old model , no remote control or sleep timer ect.
Someone or something was looking after me.

A friend of mine swore blind he had something in his house
i laughed at him-and if something happened that couldn’t be explained I’d take the piss and tell him to tell ‘rose’ off
anyway he sent me a video-it was of a crisp packet on the arm of the chair he was sat on
it was moving slowly up and down the arm of the chair, but it was moving like someone had their finger on it not a gust of wind

i was a bit surprised but but it down to him winding me up

anyway I’d gone round one day,the kids where at school, his wife and niece at work-nobody else was in and nobody had access to the house while we where out
came back and the Christmas decorations (that he said where in the attic) where spread out all over his lounge floor
i honestly thought he’d done some magic trick to wind me up when the dog just froze while looking at one corner of the room
suddenly there was a really strong smell of roses, which lasted about a minute and it faded

i was a tad freaked out

years and years later I was stood at my kitchen window, looking out, just daydreaming when I saw a white staffie, with brown brindle markings, run out from under the hedge on one side of my garden, across the garden and just disappeared as it got to the fence on the other side
i shot outside to see if I could catch it-no dog
i put it down to a long, crappy day at work and went to bed
about a week later my son rang me-he’d wanted a dog for years and had seen one online at a rescue many miles away and was going to go see him
off he went and I got a call to say he’d got the dog and was on his way home-and that he was coming to see us in a few days
would it be ok if he brought the dog?
he rocked up a few days later-it was the dog I’d seen run across my garden
oddly the dog seemed to know me and he’s an amazing member of our family

I fell pregnant about 16 years ago and sadly lost one of the twins I was carrying
i gave birth to a baby and baby would be downstairs with us-and we’d hear a baby screaming upstairs, and if we where upstairs,we’d all hear a baby screaming downstairs
wed go check and it would stop
it stopped after about 6 months-I hope it was babies twin or I was losing my mind!

an old bloke bought our house in the late 50’s,left it to his granddaughter who sold it to us about 5 years ago
every single time we do something to the house (like repaint a room) we see a shadow in the corner of our eyes-its a man shaped shadow and it only lasts a few seconds
hopefully he likes what we’ve done to ‘his’ home

I did. A curtain (all windows and doors were closed) and the TV remote. It moved a few centimetres to the left. My whole family wittnessed it. I have no idea what caused it but we are all skeptics here so, no ghosts I guess 😊

A latched door that would open on it's own, impossible for it to blow open as the latch has to be lifted, wardrobe door opens on it's own. The light switches on by itself in the spare bedroom , and regularly see shadows go from one room to another, cant explain any of it. Also heard mumbling voices, I thought the kids had come in and gone to bed without saying goodnight, walked to bedroom, nobody there. Lots of other little things but the house is 200 years old

My grandad used to have a picture of wild horses running away from a forest fire
it was a cheap picture in a cheap frame and he liked it but it annoyed him that it was painted on the ‘wrong’ side
anyway all through my childhood,it would randomly fall off the wall-the string on the back and the nail in the wall would be untouched but it would lift up and fall
every single time,we’d get a call (normally within the hour) to say someone we knew had died-from my parents neighbour to our dog
it never let us down-my grandad would pick it up and look at me
’i wonder who this time…?’

I swear this is true though it sounds fantastical. I knew someone who lived in an old castle, he'd bought it lock, stock and it was an amazing beautiful place. It had original pre-Raphaelite art and lots of very old Elizabethan and Jacobean furniture and paintings. But it was also clearly spooky. Dark rooms, low ceiling, spiral staircases, cold. Previously it was owned by a very old lady who had been born there and not married and it didn't even have plumbing. The plumber who came in to put a bathroom in downed tools and so did the electrician, both claimed someone kept touching and pinching them when they were on their own. They were solid local guys - not easily scared. Anyway... I worked for an auction house at the time and they had to come in to value everything. There was an enormous family portrait upstairs, black with thick varnish. It looked like they were Puritans or from that kind of era. It was extremely imposing and striking. Along the top it said something like 'this must never be removed or bad things will befall those who do so' proper Scooby Doo stuff. The guy used to laugh that the person that tried to take it off last in the 1960s fell down dead. Few months later it was still there. I remember a friend saying 'ah so you thought better of it'. The owner went super quiet and said nothing. Later someone told me, the auctioneer who supervised its removal was found dead the next day! It came back - the house wouldn't handle it. Obviously, it could have been coincidence but no one was going to find out!

I would say if it’s happening regularly only to her it’s probably down to lack of sleep/stress/fear.

BorisBooster · 09/06/2022 14:50

Not me but my sons see their dirty laundry on bedroom floor disappear Wink

Things are forever throwing themselves around in my house. It mainly happens in the kitchen or the bedroom above it. It's happened so much that it's not a big thing anymore-- we just exchange glances and move forward.

If it happens regularly have you managed to get a good video of it? You could put it to some use and provide evidence of objects moving on their own. Or pretend you’re telekinetic.

JennyWren87 · 09/06/2022 20:14

Ever since I moved in with my partner we've had stuff moving around in every place we've lived.
The creepiest was coming into the kitchen and all the cabinet doors being open.
As far as actually witnessing things moving I've seen a spatula fly off the kitchen board and hit my partner in the leg.

Yes ... it turned out to be a tortoise which happened to be in a rockery not a rock forming part of the rockery. I'd never been to this person's house before and had no idea they had a tortoise

ROFLMAO. I'd love to have been there and seen yhat and your face!!
This amused me so much. I hope you have a brilliant week! x

Yes. Sometimes when he's really bothered by something, my eldest teen gets up out of his chair and sorts it out. It's quite unnerving.

2nd good laugh of the night. I wish you a brilliant week, too! x

Many times in my childhood home (often seen by others previously unaware of the situation too). Cupboard doors all opening and closing rapidly at the same time, lightlbulbs still illuminated floating down from the lights or all ending up on the floors unbroken at once, kettles boiling when not plugged in, a bag flying across the room as though kicked, books moving or opening and closing with pages turning, toys moving and appearing elsewhere...the. list is so long it sounds made up. The day we moved out everyone shared they had all seen a 'person' multiple times of an identical description in the same place on the landing dozens of times of the years but wed all assumed we'd imagined it. I know it sounds absolutley ridiculous, i still think so, its just very hard to logically explain.
