I love the ghostly threads on here!! Can we keep to the creepy tales from the crypt and not people telling us they don't believe in them pretty please?![thismile]

Yes, my grandfather was being 'visited' by people from his past, and seemed to be regressing back through his life as he lay dying of cancer. It could've been the morphine though. He thought my Dad was his childhood friend.

I used to be a total sceptic until my experience.
The apartment I used to live in was haunted. This ‘thing’ would get in bed next to me, I would literally feel it lying next to me. I was often too scared to look. It would follow me around the place and sometimes I would feel it’s horrible presence with me whilst I was away from home. It was a very strange experience.
I would regularly see it, it was a small, weird looking man creature. Weirdly enough, I wouldnt get scared when it appeared because it had an almost pathetic, weak presence to it. It’s appearence was so silly I would sometimes have to stifle a laugh. Other people saw it too, generally out of the corner of their eye, unfortunately I would see it in it’s full glory. I moved out of that apartment and it followed me! I couldn’t get rid of it. No wonder I was single for years! I still wonder what that weird, little creature was. I named him Alan Confused.

I have a few of these odd/woo stories. My favourite is one my Nan told us. My Nan was not a remotely 'woo' person, she was very rational and level-headed.

One night she awoke in the middle of the night to find a figure standing at the end of the bed. She started (as you would) before realising it was her next-door neighbour, with whom she was friendly. She said "what are you doing here?" but when the neighbour didn't reply, Nan assumed she was just half asleep and lay back down and fell asleep again.

The next day she discovered that her neighbour had died last night, at about the same time that she'd woken up.

I have always been prone to seeing and hearing odd things. I remember on occasion, when I was a teenager, hearing my Dad come through the front door. I heard his keys and the doors slamming shut. I waited for him to come in to the living room, but he didn't, and I hadn't heard him go up the stairs or go back outside again. After about five minutes, I went out in to the hall, wondering what he was doing. Except that there was nobody there and his car wasn't outside; he hadn't come home yet and nobody had been through the front door.

Also vividly remember the time I was at home with my mum, dad was at work, and the phone rang. I instantly KNEW that it was my dad and he'd been in an accident. There was no reason to think this - the phone regularly rang in the daytime and it was always sales people etc - but I just knew. I was quite correct, dad had been in a horrible crash (he was a lorry driver. thankfully, he came through it just fine.) I still cannot explain why or how I had this feeling.

I quite often see shadowy shapes moving around the house and see a cat out of the corner of my eye. I have always had cats around me and naturally have lost a couple over the eyes so I don't know if it is them hanging around or just my eyes. I've never felt threatened or bothered by it.

Many years ago my Mum asked me to help her find some money she'd misplaced. I can't remember the amount but it was in note form. She'd last seen it in the kitchen so we basically dismantled the room - moved EVERYTHING, looked in and under everything, checked every cupboard, etc etc. Eventually we decided to give up as the money was nowhere to be found and put everything away again. We make a cuppa, then we turn round and see the money just lying there in plain view on the kitchen counter. It is literally impossible that we wouldn't have seen it before and there was nobody else in the house, so no one was playing a joke on us. Mum and I just stood there looking at each other!

This is the last one I can think of at the minute... my Nan died a few years back. I'd gone to visit my parents, and they gently broke it to me that she'd passed away peacefully the night before. I was extremely upset, and later on, as I was trying to calm myself, the smell of Nan's perfume filled the room. She wore a very strong perfume and it was always very noticeable around her. I was really puzzled by this as there was nothing of hers in the room and nobody in the house was wearing perfume but I decided I was imagining things because I was upset. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to upset my parents.

Years later, my dad brought up in conversation that he'd smelt her perfume that day. He hadn't said anything before because like me, he didn't want to upset anyone. There is no way we influenced each other because neither of us mentioned it at the time.

I now feel very comforted by it as I believe Nan came because I was crying. I still associate the smell of that perfume with her.

*lost a couple of cats over the YEARS - not the eyes! Sorry!
Should clarify that I don't have any cats at this moment in time, so it's not live ones I'm seeing.

I have a few and yet strangely I still don’t know if I really believe in ghosts.

First when I was a little girl laying reading in bed I remember someone grabbed my foot very hard and wouldn’t let go. I screamed, mum came running. She told me God was holding my foot. 😂 I can still feel it today.

In the same house we would often hear someone running up and down our second staircase too but my parents said we were imagining it (we weren’t). But I have had three proper run ins with spooks!

1: A friend and I were walking down a deserted one track path surrounded by high hedgerows when a old guy walked out across the path with an old bike. He stopped, stared and went on. He was 2/3 metres away. As we drew level we saw there was no gap either side of the path. Literally no way he could have done what he’d done. We knew we’d seen someone from the past.

2: This one is more freaky. We lived in an old a Victorian place years ago. I liked it and I didn’t feel a presence but things were always crashing about. We blamed our cat even when honestly we knew he’d been nowhere near the source. The huge kitchen was particularly mad with stuff crashing off the sides into the middle of the floor all the time. Leading into our very big hall where random books would also be in the middle of the floor. My friend L hated our place but reluctantly agreed to water our plants while we were on our hols (and the cat in the cat home). She phoned in tears. When she arrived to do the watering the whole house was upside down. Heavy bookcases turfed over, kitchen stuff all over the floor and chairs upside down round the dining table (which came off of the mad kitchen). Otherwise the whole place was locked up. Her boyfriend came and put it all back together and we never had another occurrence.

3: Second spooky place was a beautiful and pretty Gothic house we had. I loved that house but there was always something odd about the top of the stairs. I couldn’t put my finger on it. It was right beside our second bathroom and when you were in the bath you somehow always wanted the door firmly shut. We had a loft hatch there too and strange things happened - a builder fell out of it, my husband once dropped piles of paint from it - he couldn’t explain why, I never wanted to go up through the hatch either. At night, after DS was born I had to cross this long landing corridor to get to his room and I always felt something was ‘down there’. I’d sometimes be so sure I’d look, but see nothing.

Anyway, as we came to sell the house a few years on, a surveyor asked whether it was haunted. I said ‘nah’. He was a bastard because he knew my husband was away and I was heavily pregnant with DS2 and feeling vulnerable. He proceeded to tell me that the previous owner but one had hung himself from the loft hatch and was hanging there for days before he was discovered. And that a priest had been called in by the neighbour! The whole little village knew and in all those years had agreed to keep it a secret. I felt quite betrayed TBH.

More please!

About five years ago I stepped outside into the garden to enjoy the summer evening. I felt the urge to look up and there above was an enormous slow moving craft, devoid of wings, just an irregular shaped dark solid but aero dynamic object gliding silently through the sky. It landed in a filed nearby and took up most of the area of the field so must have been enormous. A moment later it had completely disappeared. It was no conventional plane or even a stealth aircraft as it was too large, too slow and absolutely silent.

Not me, but my uncle. My grandad (uncle's dad) passed away in 1987. He'd been diagnosed with advanced cancer and was given approx 6 weeks to live. My Nan was the only one with him when he died.

My uncle was involved in a car accident a few years and was knocked unconscious. When he came round, he said that he'd seen his dad, when Nan asked what he was wearing, he described his outfit perfectly and it was exactly what he'd been wearing when he passed. There was no way he'd have known and my Nan was in such a state after he passed that she didn't give any details like that. My uncle woke up and couldn't remember getting married, or his wife. He had to be shown photographs of their wedding but he still can't remember it. He can remember seeing his dad though 👻

Went to a friends house a few years ago with hubby Christmas time
I don’t drink hubby only 1 drink 2 maybe at the most ... I have never seen a ghost or anything like that before ever ... I saw a very quick image of an old lady sitting opposite ... and thought “ trick of the Christmas lights “ ... didn’t mention it not to anybody .. we get home and hubby says to me
“ I think I saw something “ .... well .... I was gobsmacked ... I had not said a word to him .. he said a figure walked past him .... I didn’t tell my friend she would have freaked ( her mother had died in that house ) .. she hates spirits or anything like that ... to this day we still talk about it ... could have been a coincidence but ... just can’t say you know ?
