Anyone interested in following the fantastic athletes both human and equine who are competing this week?
I believe the eventing dressage is kicking off today.

Yes I'm enjoying it so far. Tom McEwen did a beautiful test.

dazzlingdeborahrose · 27/07/2024 10:28

Where can I see this? Can't find it on any channels. Thanks.

Wendycoping · 27/07/2024 10:36

It's on discovery plus. Costs 6.99 for a months subscription.

AnnaMagnani · 27/07/2024 10:39

Not any more. I am feeling ashamed about how much I enjoyed it last time round having had a crash course in the last few days about the persistence of Rolkur and Low, Deep and Round.

Now seriously thinking it should all be scrapped.

Wendycoping · 27/07/2024 10:43

It's eventing dressage.

That's a shame. It's eventing dressage - my own horse and my dcs pony can do all these movements (just not as well!) and they've never had a whip anywhere near them.

Eventing dressage is way more exciting than straight dressage. At the lower levels we always lay bets on which horses will jump outside the boards 🤣 Any eventing rider needs a medal for riding a super fit event horse down the center line without falling off.

The last BE I went to as a supporter/spectator to a friend there were 3 x dressage arena next to each other on grass. It was like a domino effect, a horse at 1 end jumped into the neighbouring arena which made that horse bugger off across the whole field which set off the final horse 🤣🤣. Worth the entry fee alone for that

Wendycoping · 27/07/2024 10:59

I was once at an event where a flock of turkeys slowly made their way across the dressage arena. You can imagine how that went down

🤣 see, that's why eventing is way more interesting

I'm with you and have been for some time. Completely demoralised currently.

But I think this thread is more for people looking to enjoy the good bits about it. Although the title may well draw in those looking to debate, as it did me!

Wendycoping · 27/07/2024 11:28

Lots of very jolly happy horses this morning. It's been a nice balance. Obviously if you are determined to see all equestrian competition in a bad light you will. I enjoy watching eventing. I'm not a racing fan. The worst horse sport is polo IMO. The injuries the horses can get from the ball are horrible.

dazzlingdeborahrose · 27/07/2024 11:43

@Wendycoping Thanks. We have discovered+ but typically it was playing up. Now happily watching whilst cleaning the kitchen 😁

Wendycoping · 27/07/2024 16:28

A new Olympic record for team eventing dressage for GB!

So pleased for them after what must have been an unsettling week.

CobbyMouthed · 27/07/2024 17:30

Does anyone know if they have all competed today? So far we have Laura in first individually and we are also in first for the team competition. I have been out all day so that is nice news to come home to. All they have to do is a double clear jumping and we have a nice contribution to the medal table. Before anyone starts my “only” is meant very much tongue in cheek.

Yes we are leading after the dressage

CobbyMouthed · 28/07/2024 12:56

Anyone heard the cross country results so far?

tattychicken · 28/07/2024 13:05

Laura Collet clear with small time faults. Michael Jung clear inside time so now in first place. Ros Canter starts in about 10 minutes.

Wendycoping · 28/07/2024 13:05

Yes.

Michael Jung leading

Lc and TmcE both clear, LC a time penalty

RC yet to go

German rider fell off so they are out of the team event

Wendycoping · 28/07/2024 13:41

Ros has been given a 15 for a flag

CantSleepSweet · 28/07/2024 13:48

Oh no! I thought she'd done so well...does that mean Germany have overtaken us again?

Wendycoping · 28/07/2024 14:36

No we are still in the lead but France are now only 2 points behind

Wendycoping · 28/07/2024 14:37

The spectators were rowdy I thought. Sticking their arms and phones out, crossing where they weren't supposed to.

tattychicken · 28/07/2024 17:16

We are appealing the flag so fingers crossed.
