What do you think Kevin and Mary's zoom announcement is?

Just that really. I don't want to wait until Monday night if it's something important.

I am assuming they have some sort of offer from the government, which they need to bring to the members to vote upon. Or they don't have any offer, and need to discuss further strike action. I so hope it's the former, but am not feeling positive.

Applerumbl · 26/03/2023 11:28

I thought it was strange to do it via zoom rather than an email and vote? Anyone else?

ohfook · 26/03/2023 11:33

Yes I really don't like the dragging it out. It's my livelihood not the bloody X factor results.

The Scottish deal is really good I think. The Welsh offer less so but I'm not even sure if Gillian Keegan has bothered to enter into discussions yet. I'm crossing my fingers it's some sort of offer.

Agreed. Just email it.
It's like being at work, an hour long meeting for something that could be sent in an email!

Lonelyplanet · 26/03/2023 12:21

I agree an email would be so much better. I am lucky to be home by 6 and then have a family who deserve some attention.

I'm not holding out much hope for it being positive news or it would have already hit the press. I suspect it will be to discuss further strike action. If so it really is time the other unions support us.

What time did people start getting the message ?

It's starts off with 'sorry to message you so early in the morning' but arrived at lunch time

I hate that they haven't said what it's about -always makes me feel like I'm in trouble Grin

I think I got mine around 9.30am

Theimpossiblegirl · 26/03/2023 13:08

They've said they want as many people on the zoom as possible.
That doesn't bode well as I think it's to demonstrate the number of teachers that are not happy and want to be heard.

But I would be very happy to be wrong.

Talks involving the DfE, NASUWT, ASCL, NAHT and NEU are due to conclude with a new pay offer to be announced shortly. Our Better Deal for Teachers pay campaign continues and we will be able to update members soon.

Do you have insider knowledge or just guessing like the rest of us?

RoyGBivisacolorfulman · 26/03/2023 21:58

That was on Naswats social media.

RoyGBivisacolorfulman · 26/03/2023 22:14

NASWUT sorry

NASWUT sorry

Thank you, that sounds like it's good news.

ohfook · 27/03/2023 18:04

I'm not back from work yet. If anyone is on the zoom can you let us know what they say please.

4.3 to 4.5% pay rise next year - only 0.5% funded, so mainly coming from existing budgets.
And a one off £1000 payment for this year!
Unions are advising to vote against.

RoyGBivisacolorfulman · 27/03/2023 18:28

So much worse than every other industry offer. Shocking compared to the devolved nations.

twinkletoesimnot · 27/03/2023 18:32

Disappointed but not surprised.

countdowntonap · 27/03/2023 18:33

Reject, reject reject!!!

dylgan · 27/03/2023 18:36

Part of the governments condition was that the unions either approve or remain neutral to the offer. As the NEU have advised that members reject the offer it will not stand.

I am utterly shocked at this offer, it is so much less that offers in Scotland and Wales.

MrsHamlet · 27/03/2023 18:42

That's a no from me

Piggywaspushed · 27/03/2023 18:47

Stick it where the sun don't shine.

Frost1111 · 27/03/2023 18:53

0.5 percent funded. So basically they are telling schools to take money out of our children's education. A no from me. Quite insulting quite frankly.

WonderingWanda · 27/03/2023 19:06

It's is appalling and I will be rejecting.

Lancrelady80 · 27/03/2023 19:32

Ignorung even the pay "offer," the concessions on workload are the equivalent of being offered a glue stick and three half chewed whiteboard pens when what is needed is a suite of new IT equipment.

This has actually made me really angry. Up to now, I've been pretty much resigned to not getting far. But the workload and conditions suggestions are just so pathetically inadequate they border on down right contemptuous.

NEU are advising vote reject. NASUWT aren't advising anything.

Just saying.

Agree the offer is an insult and already voted to reject.
