Christmas staff room thread for any of us who are flying solo this Christmas. No expectations of jollity or despair - you feel how you feel and it ALL FINE.

I started my blanket after I had my appendix out. That was 2015!!!

SmileEachDay · 25/12/2020 16:23

Is your meat done yet Hamlet?

It was done just as my dad Skyped! Sadly his Christmas presents were stymied by openreach digging up the road meaning the delivery man just kept the parcel. Bit of a disaster really.
I've spoken to all the family and now I think it might be trifle time. How's everyone else doing?

DecemberStar · 25/12/2020 18:32

Battling with technology - got DS to agree to watch Jurassic Park (2018) with me but v dodgy signal on Freeview. Don't worry I said, we can now watch it online with our clever new computer TV type thingy.

Cue 15 mins of making acct, logging in, bore bore bore.... just to discover we can't watch anything live, just older stuff.

Grrrr!

Am I missing something??

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 25/12/2020 19:29

Just pouring more Prosecco and getting the cheese out here. Have put His Dark Materials on I played.

DecemberStar · 25/12/2020 20:23

You're in for a treat Rafals.

Have just realised today isn't as painful as usual, because I don't have to sit imagining other folks at large family gatherings.

MrsChristmasHamlet · 25/12/2020 20:25

I've pigged my way through a whole trifle. Cheese in an hour or so I reckon.
I've only had one gin today which is unusual. But I feel really chilled. I'm surprised at how okay it has been.

DollyMixtureLulus · 25/12/2020 20:33

Mine hasn’t been too bad either. I went for a nice walk and made myself a nice brunch.

I think I still feel like it’s a weekend though. Can’t believe I was only in school on Tuesday!

MrsChristmasHamlet · 25/12/2020 20:41

That's insane, Dolly
I might cycle to the seaside tomorrow if it's not raining.

fuckweasel · 25/12/2020 20:55

Indulging in my guilty pleasure of Call the Midwife Christmas special after a solo dinner of roast very local beef! Haven’t made it out of the flat today due to typical west coast Scottish weather. Lone Christmas wasn’t all that bad really; some really thoughtful gifts and a Skype catch up with the usual friends I spend Christmas with. It could be worse!

Isthatitnow · 25/12/2020 21:41

Glad everyone is having a peaceful day. My lovely neighbour brought me Xmas dinner when she realised it was my first Xmas alone (my mum died in 2019 but last year my children were with me). As a result, I am well and truly stuffed! Now watching Eastenders and it just got interesting!

DecemberStar · 25/12/2020 21:53

CtMW Lovely as usual, must have been a hard watch for any who've lost babies though.

MrsChristmasHamlet · 25/12/2020 22:38

I cried a lot in call the midwife - it gets me every time. I also want a Harvey wallbanger with my next trifle.

DecemberStar · 25/12/2020 22:45

I'd be suspicious of anyone who didn't cry at CTMW MrsH

MrsChristmasHamlet · 25/12/2020 22:54

True that!

DecemberStar · 26/12/2020 12:08

Morning all! Are people still alone today?

I always think Boxing Day is a weird mixture of anti climax and relief!

MrsChristmasHamlet · 26/12/2020 12:12

Yes. Just me.... I've had a cuppa and some cocoa pops (which I bought as a treat and were pretty disappointing) and I've just got up and dressed. It's grey and wet and I'm a fair weather cyclist so no ride to the sea today.

DecemberStar · 26/12/2020 12:32

Wave 👋 mrsH. That's a good reminder, it's still relatively fair weather here, I must go for a walk while I can. Leave teens stewing in their bedrooms.

DecemberStar · 26/12/2020 12:32

Yes I find coco pops pretty 🤢 these days!

MrsChristmasHamlet · 26/12/2020 13:54

Lunch is crackers and cheese and ham and lamb and cheese and some more cheese. It's way better than cocoa pops!!

DecemberStar · 26/12/2020 15:23

I had a lovely walk to view the flooded river here. Bumped into an older couple I know. Nice.

SmileEachDay · 26/12/2020 16:20

I think I have overdosed on cheese Hamlet

How’s your day?

I've been trying to find something worth having in the boden sale, and mostly failing.
Cure for cheese overdose... pickled onions.
How's your day?
