You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

All presents wrapped.

What can be prepped for tomorrow is prepped.

What can be pre cooked for tomorrow is cooked.
I've made mince pies (one large, struesel topped, 1 dozen small normal ones).

And the makings for mulled wine are in a pan for the wine to be added for later.

Table laid for tomorrow.

Taking the kids for a surprise rubbish dinner of macdonalds later as cannot now face making dinner for tonight!

Merry Christmas all here on the staffroom.

Cracklefraggle · 24/12/2020 17:46

Hope said dog doesn't leave us his own version of mince pies in the morning Xmas Shock

SantaAssociationRepresentitve · 24/12/2020 17:49

We are ready. Daughter is home but boy has stayed in London with flatmate who would have been alone - I am putting a brave face on it as he has done it for the right reasons and, of course, means he is following the rules as he is worried about the new variants.

Now stuck with a turkey that will feed 10 easily! Ordered from the local butcher and so did not want to cancel. But hey who doesn't love turkey stir fry and turkey curry for a couple of weeks

Love to you all - hope we all get vaccinated asap - all power to my staffroom pals as you have kept me going since the First Republic when I was horrified at how we were being kicked all over the place on Mumsnet.

Merry Christmas (whatever that means for each of us - make the most of it). Cheers!

xxxxx

Pleased for you knowing Smile

Going to jump in the bath and wash my hair to minimise rushing around in the morning. Then I will be cooking for the third time today thanks to ds going all high maintenance because, "it's Christmas Eve!"

I'm aware some people do cook 3 meals a day as standard for their children btw Wink

TheHoneyBadger · 24/12/2020 17:54

Happy Christmas staff! Hope you have lots of freezer space for the turkey. Or you could make massive stews and curries and deliver deliver them to local shut ins if your karma needs a boost. Well done to your ds. Can you send them a takeaway?

GleamingBaubles · 24/12/2020 17:54

Awesome news Yule!, So glad Wine

I've had a lovely calming day. Took the kids up an extremely muddy slippery hill, "accidentally" bumped into another another mum with her kids who are in the same classes as my 2 eldest. Made dens in the woods, bought hot chocolate at the café shack, slipped over lots and got incredibly muddy - and only one child managed to step in dog poo!
Went back home and played board games and watched films.
Now eating chocolate from their selection packs and watching Frozen 2!
And I've stayed off the news and MN so feel a lot more chilled.

Hope everyone on here has a lovely evening and a fantastic day tomorrow. You have all been such a support and just brilliant people Flowers

SmileEachDay · 24/12/2020 17:58

That sounds perfect Baubles

ChloeDeckTheHalls · 24/12/2020 18:01

Ah, Carols From King’s now it feels like Christmas Eve!

Wonderful to hear Yule! Am so happy for you and your DS

CallmeAngelGabriel · 24/12/2020 18:03

Dd and I made sausage and red onion chutney rolls this afternoon. House smells divine. Ds is now prepping a Beef Wellington for tomorrow. Presents all wrapped - way too many for just the four of us.
About to have a bath and wash my hair and then we're opening a posh bottle of champagne we got for our silver wedding anniversary, opening the Christmas Eve boxes, eating canapés and watching a film.
Happy Christmas everyone, and thank you so very much for all the support we give each other on here.
See you on the other side for what's coming!!
