You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

@SantaAssociationRepresentitve

Guess LFTs are better than nothing but the accuracy is what? 45%?

I have had chocolate for breakfast 😁

I think 45% is for symptomatic cases.

For asymptomatic it's more like 3% (yes that is three it isn't a typo). University of Birmingham tested about 7000 students without symptoms and found 2 cases. They then retested 700 of the negatives with PCR and found about 6 cases which probably means they missed around 60 positives. Therefore LF testing found 2 out of 62 positives which is 3%.

The new LFT poster for schools-looks like it’s not a throat swab any more at least.

Hello all, I've had a cold lovely run, ❄️ not least as I could do it. (This time last week I was hobbling. Fucking hormones.)

And we've completed stockings and last bits (we are v last min.com), some more tidying and gravy making, cake decorating to be done. I think I'll be popping onto the solo thread to keep peeps company there.

Need to keep the kids ticking over; first ever solo as a family Xmas and it's noticeable!

Oh , yes, Nadine does stick up for NHS.

Piggyinblankets · 24/12/2020 13:57

Whilst not voting to give them payrises, of course.

MrsHercYulePoirot · 24/12/2020 13:58

🤣 well we are all stick inside awaiting DH’s covid test results from yesterday... think just a cough from a cold which now seems to have nearly disappeared fully....

Merry Christmas to you alll! Thank you for these threads getting me through. Have really appreciated them.

MsAwesomeReindeer · 24/12/2020 14:01

We're stuck inside too MrsHP, waiting for my covid results. Today I have had a lemsip and now feel fine, but have been coughing a bit again this morning. I'm currently baking Christmas biscuits with dd2 for Santa, even though she doesn't believe in him this year.

TheHoneyBadger · 24/12/2020 15:20

We've had bagels and smoked salmon and later we are having a substantial meal and apparently doritos and hummus and all sorts of crap after but ds is now begging for pancakes.

I've wrapped all presents just need to write on cards and sort out clothes to wear and box up wines and anything that needs taking tomorrow because we need to leave the house at 10.

I feel like I could use another couple of days before Christmas.

Achristmaspudsskidu · 24/12/2020 15:29

I wonder how many lateral flow tests they’ve got through down in Kent over the last few days?

I read that they’ve got 100 NHS staff and 170 Armed Forces doing the tests-it would be very interesting to know!!

TheHoneyBadger · 24/12/2020 15:31

Surely they just needed a few volunteers and a powerpoint, it only takes thirty seconds, they should have been getting through 11-13 lorry drivers an hour per station Wink

One bit of good news.. we all had tests and DS is home for Christmas!❤️🎉🎄🎁
👏👏👏. That really is excellent news!
MsAwesomeReindeer · 24/12/2020 16:29

Fantastic news knowing!!! Have an amazing time!!🎅🤶⛄🌲🎄

I've "ruined Christmas" according to dd2, because I forgot to buy cream cheese to make our cheesecake. And as we're waiting for test results we can't even go out and buy some. We'll just have to eat something else from the stacks of Christmas food we've got in the house.
