You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

This place really is a safe space for so many of us. Hugs and tipple of choice to all those struggling.FlowersWineBrew

DreamingofBrie · 23/12/2020 22:25

Riga and Gleaming, Flowers Flowers for you. I hope you're feeling better soon. I think it's the lack of control of the situation which is so unsettling. Watching those poor lorry drivers in Kent at the moment. Poor buggers.

Wavingnotdrown1ng · 23/12/2020 22:26

A long-time lurker here.
GleamingBaubles, sorry to hear about your SH. My daughter has found the CalmHarm app really helpful.
Everyone else, these threads are really helpful to so many of us so thank you, Happy Christmas and best wishes to all.Xmas Smile

starrynight19 · 23/12/2020 22:26

Oh Gleaming Flowers

GleamingBaubles · 23/12/2020 22:35

Thanks everyone. Yes it's the uncertainty, and feeling everything will just change again tomorrow, and the weird paranoid feeling that your government is actually out to get you. Plus most parents.

HarrietDVane · 23/12/2020 22:37

Flowers @GleamingBaubles - please take care and vent all you need here.

Thanks for the new thread, @SantaAssociationRepresentitve - I can’t believe how quickly these are filling up.

noelgiraffe · 23/12/2020 22:41

Oh shit Gleaming I’m so sorry you feel pushed to that. Please take care.

Anything we can do to help? Funny cat videos?

DecemberStar · 23/12/2020 22:43

Gleaming I'm so sorry to hear that.

S African expert interviewed on R4 tonight saying he didn't know where Matt H had got the info from that "their" strain was more infectious, they had no info of that! Weird, because MH was obviously very worried about it hence the strict quarantine measures. SA guy also said it hitting younger people more was also only anecdotal at present, no evidence yet.

So that's calmed me down a bit! (Am wrapping which is actually quite soothing too if you're not doing it at 1am (as I recall doing when kids were younger)!

Night night all.

MrsDanvers123 · 23/12/2020 22:46

Just adding my voice and wanting everyone to take care. It's shit and we all know it is shit. Flowers

DecemberStar · 23/12/2020 22:53

Viciouslybashed · 23/12/2020 22:55

I read that as if Hancock was saying it 😂

MrsChristmasHamlet · 23/12/2020 22:55

That made me laugh!
My Navy flying cousin did land his helicopter on school fields from time to time. We talked about his coming up here but the logistics never worked.
We did once have a tank on site but the site team were very pissed off by the track marks it left on the playground.

GuyFawkesDay · 23/12/2020 23:01

Got a track & trace call from the Head today.

SI til boxing day. No meet up for me then. Bugger.

Now have psychosomatic covid symptoms.

MrsChristmasHamlet · 23/12/2020 23:16

Oh shit, Guy

hedgehogger1 · 23/12/2020 23:22

So many people on my social media have been contacted and told to isolate, and they're all teachers. It feels like COVID is everywhere right now

GleamingBaubles · 23/12/2020 23:28

Guy Flowers

HarrietDVane · 23/12/2020 23:33

Oh no Guy Flowers

DreamingofBrie · 23/12/2020 23:33

Guy Sad. Hope your SI passes quickly Flowers.

DecemberStar · 23/12/2020 23:46

Have been corrected on another thread, apparently the South African expert said he didn't know why MH stated that the SA strain is more infectious than "our" new one, not than the old one.

ChloeDeckTheHalls · 23/12/2020 23:49

Such a tragedy Top Gun 2 has been delayed-that would have saved us obvs Grin

KnowingMeKnowingYule · 24/12/2020 00:59

Hello allSmile

KnowingMeKnowingYule · 24/12/2020 01:01

@SaltyAF

I don't even give a shit that the public will hate us for striking. They already do, so it's a big 'fuck you' from me.
That's how we in this house feel too. DH and I would both be up for striking. If we have to use our savings, so be it. Don't think it's going to happen though.
KnowingMeKnowingYule · 24/12/2020 01:08

 @GuyFawkesDay and@GleamingBaubles ThanksThanks
