You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

However, am giving entire lunch hour bar 15 minutes over to my 6th form mathematicians who have struggled or not bothered with their homework, and doing the same on Monday too. Me too! And I did the same today. Today was year 13, tomorrow year 12 and Monday is year 13 again. Lots of year 12 are expected tomorrow because I properly lambasted them about the last piece of homework they did. It was all skills based, no problem solving at all, and they couldn't even be bothered to look up methods in their notes or textbooks for routine skills. I was very scathing and made 7 of them redo it, properly this time.

I just feel like there's no point to any of it. I'm sick of feeling like all I do is work and sleep with no end in sight. I'm sick of feckless colleagues who take the piss in every way whilst others are crying in the loo everyday. I'm sick of the "poor me" brigade whining about nothing. I'm sick of literally no one in real life asking or caring how I am.
I don't want to do this any more. It just feels so bloody pointless.
Bedtime I think.

CallmeAngelina · 19/11/2020 21:59

Flowers and Cake for you @MrsHamlet

WhenSheWasBad · 19/11/2020 22:01

You ok guyfawkes? Sounds like you’ve had a beyond shit day.

I spend all my break and lunches trying to get the kids to log onto their homework. It’s soul destroying.
The number of high school kids who can’t access an email is quite eye opening

CallmeAngelina · 19/11/2020 22:03

Can't or won't?

Piggywaspushed · 19/11/2020 22:05

In more positive news, DH got his flu jab today. hallelujah!

He wasn't meant to. Apparently he wasn't on their list at all (FFS!) , even the over 50s list! The receptionist took pity and squeezed him in.

monkeytennis97 · 19/11/2020 22:05

ThanksWineCake to everyone having it tough today. DH drowned his sorrows tonight but was laughing away to some stupid stuff on YouTube so it was nice to see him laughing. DS sounded ok on the phone tonight, quite lively. Will do a video call with him on Saturday I think. 4 weeks on Sunday since we last saw him but I think he is not so shocked about not seeing us so much this time. Waiting on his 4th test now, not sure when we can see him yet. Other DS is working hard and some of his work was on tv tonight but can't say any more than that but so happy he is working and doing wellSmile Night everyone! X

WhyNotMe40 · 19/11/2020 22:06

MrsHamlet - I know I'm not "real life" but I feel I have got to know, and like, and respect you. And I care.
All of you fuckers on here actually Grin Star

Ooh, I've not seen the graphs. New surveillance report?

Augustbreeze · 19/11/2020 23:46

Posted earlier by neuro I believe. All age groups dip for half term, very marked.

Piggy I'm so glad to hear that yr DH is now protected (hopefully) from flu!

echt · 20/11/2020 03:58

Hamlet, hope you're feeling better this morning.

What is this lunch hour that you are speaking of Brie? Ours reduced to 40 minutes years ago due to poor behaviour, and this year it's 25 minutes as we have to supervise the kids eating. The queue for the toilet alone normally takes 10 minutes.

Piggywaspushed · 20/11/2020 05:53

Haha, yes , that is what I thought!

Our lunch is 25 minutes. So short that it is no longer allowed to be called lunch.

Danglingmod · 20/11/2020 06:24

Same here.

SquashedFlyBiscuits · 20/11/2020 06:28

Happy Friday people. Not many more hours to get through before we can all collapse on our sofas. Anyone else dreaming a lot?

Piggywaspushed · 20/11/2020 06:48

Yes, constant anxiety dreams.

Saucery · 20/11/2020 06:58

Gosh, yes! All the old favourites on a rota.

MrsHamlet · 20/11/2020 07:04

Thank you for caring, fuckers. It means a lot.

SquashedFlyBiscuits · 20/11/2020 07:06

Last night I was at a party and was attacked by a spider. The food was very good before this happened though so I was enjoying it before the spider started burrowing into me.

DreamingofBrie · 20/11/2020 07:06

What is this lunch hour that you are speaking of Brie?

Must admit, at the moment I live for my lunch hour! We get lunch thrown in as well and although the kids complain about it, I'm just grateful that someone hands me a pot of hot food every day!

MsAwesomeDragon · 20/11/2020 07:11

We still get a lunch hour. It's because we can't do many clubs etc after school with so many kids relying on the school buses. So in order to facilitate clubs we keep the lunch hour as an hour. We also wouldn't be able to get all the kids through the one dinner hall in any shorter time, we still regularly have kids arriving late for period 4 because they were last in for lunch. That's less of a problem this year because more kids are bringing packed lunches.

Of course, we end up with a lot of detentions, meetings, interventions, etc happening at lunchtime too. So while the (well behaved) kids get a full hour, I'm usually busy for at least half of it with detentions or homework help.
